TL;DR: The SuperCam body unit (BU) of the Mars 2020 rover as mentioned in this paper was designed to receive light from the mast unit via a 5.8 m opti-cal fiber and the light is split into three wavelength bands by a demultiplexer, and routed via fiber bundles to three optical spectrometers, two of which (UV and violet; 245-340 and 385-465 nm) are crossed Czerny-Turner reflection spectrometer, nearly identical to their counterparts on ChemCam.
Journal ArticleDOI
OrganiCam: a lightweight time-resolved laser-induced luminescence imager and Raman spectrometer for planetary organic material characterization.
Patrick J. Gasda,Roger C. Wiens,A. Reyes-Newell,Kumkum Ganguly,Raymond Newell,Charles G. Peterson,Benigno Sandoval,Logan Ott,Samantha Adikari,Seychelles Voit,Samuel M. Clegg,Anupam K. Misra,Tayro E. Acosta-Maeda,Heather Quinn,Shiv K. Sharma,Magdalena Dale,Steven P. Love,Sylvestre Maurice +17 more
TL;DR: A brassboard version of the OrganiCam instrument is designed and built and initial tests of the system are performed, making it ideal for surveying organics on planetary surfaces.
