Journal ArticleDOI
Competition between magnetism and superconductivity in rare-earth nickel boride carbides.
Hiroshi Eisaki,Hidenori Takagi,Robert J. Cava,Bertram Batlogg,J. J. Krajewski,W. F. Peck,K. Mizuhashi,J. O. Lee,S. Uchida +8 more
TL;DR: In this article, the competition between magnetism and superconductivity was investigated for the recently discovered R${\mathrm{Ni}}_{2}$${B}}-C superconductors with the magnetic rare-earth elements R=Tm,Er,Ho,Dy.
Journal ArticleDOI
Electronic states in La2-xSrxCuO4+ delta probed by soft-x-ray absorption.

TL;DR: Two distinct pre-edge peaks which evolve systematically as a function of Sr concentration are revealed, consistent with a description of electronic states based on a doped charge-transfer insulator.
Journal ArticleDOI
Scaling of the temperature dependent Hall effect in La 2 − x Sr x CuO 4
H. Y. Hwang,Bertram Batlogg,Hidenori Takagi,H. L. Kao,J. Kwo,Robert J. Cava,J. J. Krajewski,W. F. Peck +7 more
TL;DR: The strongly temperature dependent R-H, a hallmark of cuprate superconductors, is found to be the low temperature part of a simple functional form f(T/$T) which becomes constant for Tg, similar to a temperature scale deduced from magnetic susceptibility.
Journal ArticleDOI
Synthesis of bulk superconducting YBa2Cu4O8 at one atmosphere oxygen pressure
Robert J. Cava,J. J. Krajewski,W. F. Peck,Bertram Batlogg,L. W. Rupp,R. M. Fleming,A. C. W. P. James,P. Marsh +7 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors reported the synthesis of the 124 phase in pure bulk form by a novel synthetic route in a flowing oxygen stream at 1 atm pressure, under oxidizing conditions.
Journal ArticleDOI
Magnetic penetration depth in single-crystal YBa2Cu3O7- delta.
D. R. Harshman,Lynn Schneemeyer,Joseph V. Waszczak,G. Aeppli,Robert J. Cava,Bertram Batlogg,L. W. Rupp,Eduardo J. Ansaldo,R. F. Kiefl,Graeme Luke,T. M. Riseman,David Williams +11 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors reported the first measurement of the magnetic penetration depth lambda(T,theta) in single crystals of YBa/sub 2/Cu/sub 3/O/sub 7-//sub delta/ (delta/similar to/0.1).
