Identification and Bioactivities of IFN-γ in Rainbow Trout Oncorhynchus mykiss: The First Th1-Type Cytokine Characterized Functionally in Fish
Jun Zou,Allison Carrington,Bertrand Collet,Johannes M. Dijkstra,Yasutoshi Yoshiura,Niels C. Bols,Christopher J. Secombes +6 more
TL;DR: The present study has demonstrated for the first time a functional IFN-γ homologue in a fish species, strongly suggesting a conserved Th1 immune response is most likely present in lower vertebrates.
Journal ArticleDOI
High variance in reproductive success of the Pacific oyster (Crassostrea gigas, Thunberg) revealed by microsatellite-based parentage analysis of multifactorial crosses
Pierre Boudry,Bertrand Collet,F Cornette,F Cornette,Veronique Hervouet,Veronique Hervouet,François Bonhomme +6 more
TL;DR: Results show that the observed variance in reproductive success can be attributed to three main factors: gamete quality, sperm–egg interaction and differential viability among genotypes, and warn against using too limited a number of progenitors in breeding programmes.
Journal ArticleDOI
Expression and Functional Characterization of the RIG-I-Like Receptors MDA5 and LGP2 in Rainbow Trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss)
Ming Xian Chang,Ming Xian Chang,Bertrand Collet,Pin Nie,Katherine Lester,Scott Campbell,Christopher J. Secombes,Jun Zou +7 more
TL;DR: It is demonstrated that both MDA5 and L GP2 are important RLRs in host surveillance against infection of both negative and positive viruses and that the LGP2 variant with a deletion of 54 amino acids at the C terminus acts as a negative regulator for LGP 2-elicited antiviral signaling by competing for the viral RNA PAMPs.
Journal ArticleDOI
DNA vaccination against viral haemorrhagic septicaemia (VHS) in rainbow trout: size, dose, route of injection and duration of protection-early protection correlates with Mx expression.
Pamela E. McLauchlan,Bertrand Collet,Esben Ingerslev,Christopher J. Secombes,Niels Lorenzen,A. E. Ellis +5 more
TL;DR: Rainbow trout of different sizes were injected intramuscularly or intraperitoneally with different doses of a viral haemorrhagic septicaemia-DNA vaccine and cohorts of these fish showed effective protection at all timepoints.
Journal ArticleDOI
Differentiation between populations of the Portuguese oyster, Crassostrea angulata (Lamark) and the Pacific oyster, Crassostrea gigas (Thunberg), revealed by mtDNA RFLP analysis
TL;DR: Analysis of haplotype diversity among sites showed that samples originating from southern Portugal and Spain cluster with the Taiwanese sample, which implicate Taiwan as the possible origin of European C. angulata populations.
