Angiotensin-Converting Enzyme Inhibition With Quinapril Improves Endothelial Vasomotor Dysfunction in Patients With Coronary Artery Disease The TREND (Trial on Reversing ENdothelial Dysfunction) Study
G. B. J. Mancini,G. C. Henry,C. Macaya,Blair J. O'Neill,A. L. Pucillo,R. G. Carere,Thomas J. Wargovich,Harald Mudra,Thomas F. Lüscher,M. I. Klibaner,H. E. Haber,A. C. G. Uprichard,Carl J. Pepine,Bertram Pitt +13 more
TL;DR: TREND (Trial on Reversing ENdothelial Dysfunction) investigated whether quinapril might improve endothelial dysfunction in normotensive patients with coronary artery disease and no heart failure, cardiomyopathy, or major lipid abnormalities so that confounding variables that affect endothelium dysfunction could be minimized.
Journal ArticleDOI
Early eplerenone treatment in patients with acute ST-elevation myocardial infarction without heart failure: The Randomized Double-Blind Reminder Study

Adamson,Farqad Alamgir,Anoop Chauhan,Gregory Y.H. Lip,Thomas N. Martin,Gerry P McCann,David E. Newby,David Smith +83 more
TL;DR: The addition of eplerenone during the acute phase of STEMI was safe and well tolerated and reduced the primary endpoint over a mean 13 months follow-up mostly because of significantly lower BNP/NT-proBNP levels.
Journal ArticleDOI
Canadian Cardiovascular Society guidelines for the diagnosis and management of stable ischemic heart disease.
G.B. John Mancini,Gilbert Gosselin,Benjamin J.W. Chow,William J. Kostuk,James A. Stone,Kenneth J. Yvorchuk,Beth L. Abramson,Raymond Cartier,Victor F. Huckell,Jean-Claude Tardif,Kim A. Connelly,John Ducas,Michael E. Farkouh,Milan Gupta,Martin Juneau,Blair J. O'Neill,Paolo Raggi,Koon K. Teo,Subodh Verma,Rodney Zimmermann +19 more
TL;DR: This overview provides a guideline for the management of stable ischemic heart disease with an emphasis on rational deployment of diagnostic tests, expedited implementation of long- and short-term medical therapy, timely consideration of revascularization, and practical follow-up measures.
Journal ArticleDOI
The ketogenic diet: Pros and cons.
Blair J. O'Neill,Paolo Raggi +1 more
TL;DR: The debate reproduced in this article took place during a continuous medical education program between two cardiologists with largely differing views on the matter of effectiveness, sustainability, and safety of the ketogenic diet compared to alternative options.
Journal ArticleDOI
Standardized Approaches to the Investigation of Syncope: Canadian Cardiovascular Society Position Paper
Robert S. Sheldon,Carlos A. Morillo,Andrew D. Krahn,Blair J. O'Neill,Venkatesh Thiruganasambandamoorthy,Ratika Parkash,Mario Talajic,Jack V. Tu,Colette M. Seifer,David E. Johnstone,Richard Leather +10 more
TL;DR: It is concluded that there is little persuasive evidence that emergency department syncope rules and diagnostic syncope units provide efficient care and improved outcomes but that formal diagnostic algorithms with specialist support show promise.
