Extracellular-matrix tethering regulates stem-cell fate
Britta Trappmann,Julien E. Gautrot,Julien E. Gautrot,John T. Connelly,John T. Connelly,Daniel G. T. Strange,Yuan Li,Michelle L. Oyen,Martien A. Cohen Stuart,Heike Boehm,Heike Boehm,Bojun Li,Viola Vogel,Joachim P. Spatz,Joachim P. Spatz,Fiona M. Watt,Wilhelm T. S. Huck,Wilhelm T. S. Huck +17 more
TL;DR: It is concluded that stem cells exert a mechanical force on collagen fibres and gauge the feedback to make cell-fate decisions, and are regulated by the elastic modulus of PAAm.
Journal ArticleDOI
Mesenchymal Stem Cells Exploit Extracellular Matrix as Mechanotransducer
TL;DR: Human mesenchymal stem cells (hMSCs) harvest and assemble plasma fibronectin into their extracellular matrix (ECM) fibrils within 24 hours, which suggests that hMSCs utilize their own contractile forces to translate environmental cues into differential biochemical signals by stretching fibronECTin fibril.
Journal ArticleDOI
Erratum: Extracellular-matrix tethering regulates stem-cell fate
Britta Trappmann,Julien E. Gautrot,John T. Connelly,Daniel G. T. Strange,Yuan Li,Michelle L. Oyen,Martien A. Cohen Stuart,Heike Boehm,Bojun Li,Viola Vogel,Joachim P. Spatz,Fiona M. Watt,Wilhelm T. S. Huck +12 more
TL;DR: In the version of this article originally published, in Fig. 4f, the two red-stained fluorescence microscopy images were reversed; this has now been corrected in the HTML and PDF versions as discussed by the authors.
Journal ArticleDOI
Heparin-induced conformational changes of fibronectin within the extracellular matrix promote hMSC osteogenic differentiation
TL;DR: It is hypothesized that fibronectin's conformations within the ECM are activated by heparin such as to coordinate with other factors to upregulate hMSC osteogenic differentiation and serve as a 'converter' to tune h MSC differentiation in extracellular matrices.
Journal ArticleDOI
Prediction of cerebral venous thrombosis with a new clinical score and D-dimer levels
Mirjam Rachel Heldner,Susanna M. Zuurbier,Bojun Li,Rascha von Martial,Joost C. M. Meijers,Rebekka Zimmermann,Bastian Volbers,Simon Jung,Marwan El-Koussy,Urs Fischer,Hans P. Kohler,Verena Schroeder,Jonathan M. Coutinho,Marcel Arnold +13 more
TL;DR: The proposed new clinical score in combination with D-dimers may be helpful for predicting CVT as a pretest score; none of the patients with CVT showed low clinical probability for CVT and D- dimers <500 μg/L.
