Journal ArticleDOI
von Willebrand Factor–Cleaving Protease in Thrombotic Thrombocytopenic Purpura and the Hemolytic–Uremic Syndrome
Miha Furlan,Rodolfo Robles,Miriam Galbusera,Giuseppe Remuzzi,Paul A. Kyrle,Brigitte Brenner,Manuela Krause,Inge Scharrer,Volker Aumann,Uwe Mittler,Max Solenthaler,Bernhard Lämmle +11 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors investigated the prevalence of von Willebrand factor-cleaving protease deficiency in patients with familial and non-familial forms of thrombocytopenic purpura and hemolytic-uremic syndrome.
Journal ArticleDOI
Clinical Studies and Thrombin Generation in Patients Homozygous or Heterozygous for the G20210A Mutation in the Prothrombin Gene
Paul A. Kyrle,Christine Mannhalter,Suzette Beguin,Andreas Stümpflen,Mirko Hirschl,Ansgar Weltermann,Milena Stain,Brigitte Brenner,Wolfgang Speiser,Ingrid Pabinger,Klaus Lechner,Sabine Eichinger +11 more
TL;DR: Hobbitosity for the G20210A mutation in the prothrombin gene is associated with a severe, albeit more benign, thrombotic diathesis compared with homozygosity for deficiencies of antithrombin, protein C, or protein S.
Journal ArticleDOI
Prospective Evaluation of Hemostatic System Activation and Thrombin Potential in Healthy Pregnant Women with and without Factor V Leiden
Sabine Eichinger,Ansgar Weltermann,Karl Philipp,Erich Hafner,Alexandra Kaider,Eva-Maria Kittl,Brigitte Brenner,Christine Mannhalter,Klaus Lechner,Paul A. Kyrle +9 more
TL;DR: The normal ETP in both women with and without FVL suggests that the capacity of the plasma to generate thrombin after in vitro activation of the clotting system is not affected by pregnancy.
Journal ArticleDOI
Thrombocytopenia associated with low-molecular-weight heparin.
Sabine Eichinger,PaulA. Kyrle,Brigitte Brenner,Brunhilde Wagner,Stylianos Kapiotis,Klaus Lechner,HansChristian Korninger +6 more
Journal ArticleDOI
Evidence for an increased generation of prostacyclin in the microvasculature and an impairment of the platelet alpha-granule release in chronic renal failure.
Paul A. Kyrle,Felix Stockenhuber,Brigitte Brenner,Heinz Gössinger,C. Korninger,Ingrid Pabinger,Gere Sunder-Plassmann,Peter Balcke,Klaus Lechner +8 more
TL;DR: It is concluded that the haemorrhagic diathesis commonly seen in patients with chronic renal failure is--at least partially--due to an acquired defect of the platelet alpha-granule release and an increased generation of PGI2 in the microvasculature.
