Journal ArticleDOI
The Collaborative Cross at Oak Ridge National Laboratory: developing a powerful resource for systems genetics.
Elissa J. Chesler,Darla R. Miller,Lisa R. Branstetter,Leslie Galloway,Barbara L. Jackson,Vivek M. Philip,Brynn H. Voy,Cymbeline T. Culiat,David W. Threadgill,Robert W. Williams,Gary A. Churchill,Dabney K. Johnson,Kenneth F. Manly +12 more
TL;DR: A progress report of the Collaborative Cross breeding program at ORNL is presented and a description of the kinds of investigations that this resource will support is presented.
Journal ArticleDOI
Imaging nanoparticles in cells by nanomechanical holography
Laurene Tetard,Laurene Tetard,Ali Passian,Ali Passian,Katherine T Venmar,Rachel M Lynch,Brynn H. Voy,Gajendra S. Shekhawat,Vinayak P. Dravid,Thomas Thundat,Thomas Thundat +10 more
TL;DR: It is shown that cells obtained from mice exposed to single-walled carbon nanohorns can be probed using a scanning probe microscopy technique called scanning near field ultrasonic holography, which is a useful technique for probing the interactions of engineered nanomaterials in biological systems.
Journal ArticleDOI
Genetic analysis in the Collaborative Cross breeding population
Vivek M. Philip,Greta Sokoloff,Cheryl L. Ackert-Bicknell,Martin Striz,Lisa K Branstetter,Melissa A. Beckmann,Jason S. Spence,Barbara L. Jackson,Leslie Galloway,Paul E Barker,Ann M. Wymore,Patricia R. Hunsicker,David C. Durtschi,Ginger S. Shaw,Sarah G. Shinpock,Kenneth F. Manly,Darla R. Miller,Kevin D. Donohue,Cymbeline T. Culiat,Gary A. Churchill,William R. Lariviere,Abraham A. Palmer,Bruce F. O'Hara,Brynn H. Voy,Elissa J. Chesler +24 more
TL;DR: Phenotypic variation in the CC breeding population exceeds that of existing mouse genetic reference populations due to both high founder genetic diversity and novel epistatic combinations, however, some focal evidence of allele purging was detected including a suggestive QTL for litter size in a location of changing allele frequency.
Journal ArticleDOI
Extracting gene networks for low-dose radiation using graph theoretical algorithms.
Brynn H. Voy,Jon A. Scharff,Andy D. Perkins,Arnold M. Saxton,Bhavesh R Borate,Elissa J. Chesler,Lisa K Branstetter,Michael A. Langston +7 more
TL;DR: This work describes a graph theoretical approach to extracting co-expressed sets of genes, based on the computation of cliques, and presents several examples of multiple gene interactions that are altered by radiation exposure and thus represent potential molecular pathways that mediate the radiation response.
Journal ArticleDOI
Overproduction of angiotensinogen from adipose tissue induces adipose inflammation, glucose intolerance, and insulin resistance.
Nishan S. Kalupahana,Florence Massiera,Annie Quignard-Boulangé,Gérard Ailhaud,Brynn H. Voy,David H. Wasserman,Naima Moustaid-Moussa +6 more
TL;DR: It is shown for the first time that adipose RAS overactivation causes glucose intolerance and systemic insulin resistance through reduced skeletal muscle glucose uptake, at least in part due to Ang II‐induced, NADPH oxidase and NFκB‐dependent increases in WAT inflammation.
