TL;DR: A new publicly available database containing, in the first version, ∼400,000 high resolution images corresponding to more than 700 antibodies toward human proteins, providing a knowledge base for functional studies and to allow queries about protein profiles in normal and disease tissues.
Journal ArticleDOI
Identification of galactose-α-1,3-galactose in the gastrointestinal tract of the tick Ixodes ricinus; possible relationship with red meat allergy.
Carl Hamsten,Maria Starkhammar,Thi Anh Thu Tran,Magnus Johansson,Ulf Bengtsson,Gustaf Ahlén,Matti Sällberg,Hans Grönlund,M. van Hage +8 more
TL;DR: The first direct evidence that α‐Gal is present within ticks is provided thus potentially explaining the relationship between tick exposure and sensitization to α‐ Gal, with development of red meat allergy as a secondary phenomena.
Journal ArticleDOI
Red meat allergy in Sweden: association with tick sensitization and B-negative blood groups.
Carl Hamsten,Thi Anh Thu Tran,Maria Starkhammar,Annelie Brauner,Scott P. Commins,Thomas A.E. Platts-Mills,Marianne van Hage +6 more
TL;DR: A strong correlation was observed, supporting the association between tick bites and sensitization to α-Gal, among patients presenting with allergic reactions from the southeastern United States.
Journal ArticleDOI
Sensitization to cat and dog allergen molecules in childhood and prediction of symptoms of cat and dog allergy in adolescence: A BAMSE/MeDALL study.
Anna Asarnoj,Anna Asarnoj,Carl Hamsten,K. Waden,Christian Lupinek,Niklas Andersson,Inger Kull,Inger Kull,Mirela Curin,Josep M. Antó,Jean Bousquet,Rudolf Valenta,Magnus Wickman,Marianne van Hage +13 more
TL;DR: Sensitizations to Fel d 1 and Can f 1 in childhood and polysensitization to either cat or dog allergen molecules predict cat and dog allergy cross-sectionally and longitudinally significantly better than IgE to cat orDog extract.
Journal ArticleDOI
ImmunoCAP assays: Pros and cons in allergology
TL;DR: The uses, advantages, misinterpretations, and limitations of ImmunoCAP IgE assays (Thermo Fisher Scientific/Phadia, Uppsala, Sweden) in the field of allergology are discussed.
