Journal ArticleDOI

Intramolecular base composition heterogeneity of human DNA

TL;DR: The intramolecular base composition heterogeneity of human DNA has been investigated by electron microscopic observations of partially denatured structures and by equilibrium solution thermal denaturation techniques.
Journal ArticleDOI

Fractionation of the sequence organization of human DNA by preparative HgCl2/Cs2SO4 density gradients.

TL;DR: Human DNA has been fractionated on preparative HgCl2/Cs2SO4 density gradients and it is concluded that the interspersed repetitious sequences have high (G + C) compositions.
Journal ArticleDOI

Unusual sequences of two old, inactive human Alu repeats.

TL;DR: Two human Alu repeats terminating in an oligo(T) run rather than the usual A-rich 3' tail were isolated by library screening suggesting a partial explanation for how Alu source genes might become inactive with age.
Journal ArticleDOI

The evolution of a family of short interspersed repeats in primate DNA.

TL;DR: This work examines the evolution of this family of sequences in primates and finds that Bonnet monkey (Macaque radiata) DNA contains a predominant family of 300 nucleotide repeats which has nearly the same restriction map as the human AlU family and which hybridizes to human Alu family repeats under Southern blotting conditions.
