Journal ArticleDOI
Genome sequencing and analysis of the filamentous fungus Penicillium chrysogenum
Marco A. van den Berg,Richard Albang,Kaj Albermann,Jonathan H. Badger,Jean-Marc Daran,Arnold J. M. Driessen,Carlos García-Estrada,Natalie D. Fedorova,Diana M. Harris,Wilbert H. M. Heijne,Vinita Joardar,Jan A.K.W. Kiel,Andriy Kovalchuk,Juan F. Martín,William C. Nierman,William C. Nierman,Jeroen G. Nijland,Jack T. Pronk,Johannes Andries Roubos,Ida J. van der Klei,Noël Nicolaas Maria Elisabeth Van Peij,Marten Veenhuis,Hans von Döhren,Christian Wagner,Jennifer R. Wortman,Roel A. L. Bovenberg +25 more
TL;DR: Genes predicted to encode transporters were strongly overrepresented among the genes transcriptionally upregulated under conditions that stimulate penicillinG production, illustrating potential for future genomics-driven metabolic engineering.
Journal ArticleDOI
The global regulator LaeA controls penicillin biosynthesis, pigmentation and sporulation, but not roquefortine C synthesis in Penicillium chrysogenum.
Katarina Kosalková,Carlos García-Estrada,Ricardo V. Ullán,Ramiro P. Godio,Raúl Feltrer,Fernando Teijeira,Elba Mauriz,Juan F. Martín +7 more
TL;DR: Evidence is found that PcLaeA not only controls some secondary metabolism gene clusters, but also asexual differentiation in P. chrysogenum.
Journal ArticleDOI
Proteome Analysis of the Penicillin Producer Penicillium chrysogenum: CHARACTERIZATION OF PROTEIN CHANGES DURING THE INDUSTRIAL STRAIN IMPROVEMENT*
TL;DR: The proteome reference map of P. chrysogenum Wisconsin 54-1255 is reported together with an in-depth study of the changes produced in three different strains of this filamentous fungus during industrial strain improvement, indicating that global metabolic reorganizations occurred during the strain improvement program.
BookDOI
Biosynthesis and molecular genetics of fungal secondary metabolites
TL;DR: This book discusses Fungal Secondary Metabolism in the Light of Animal-Fungus Interactions: From Mechanism to Ecological Function, and its role in Plant-Pathogen Interactions.
Journal ArticleDOI
Methods for the nanoencapsulation of β-carotene in the food sector
Francisco Javier Gutiérrez,Silvia M. Albillos,Elvira Casas-Sanz,Ziortza Cruz,Carlos García-Estrada,Ana García-Guerra,José García-Reverter,Miguel García-Suárez,Paloma Gatón,Carolina González-Ferrero,Idoia Olabarrieta,Maider Olasagasti,Sandra Rainieri,Daniel Rivera-Patiño,Ruth Rojo,Ana Romo-Hualde,María-José Sáiz-Abajo,María-Luisa Mussons +17 more
TL;DR: The objective of this paper is to review some nanoencapsulation techniques that are compatible with labile compounds, such as β-carotene, to test their safety and strategies for testing the safety are discussed.
