Measurements* of the Cosmological Parameters Ω and Λ from the First Seven Supernovae at z ≥ 0.35
Saul Perlmutter,Saul Perlmutter,S. Gabi,S. Gabi,Gerson Goldhaber,Gerson Goldhaber,Ariel Goobar,Ariel Goobar,Ariel Goobar,D. E. Groom,D. E. Groom,I. M. Hook,A. G. Kim,A. G. Kim,Min Kook Kim,Julia C. Lee,R. Pain,R. Pain,Carlton R. Pennypacker,Carlton R. Pennypacker,I. A. Small,I. A. Small,Richard S. Ellis,Richard G. McMahon,B. J. Boyle,P. S. Bunclark,David Carter,Mike Irwin,Karl Glazebrook,H. J. M. Newberg,Alexei V. Filippenko,Thomas Matheson,Michael A. Dopita,Warrick J. Couch +33 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors used a light-curve width-corrected magnitudes as a function of redshift of distant (z = 0.35-0.46) supernovae to obtain a global measurement of the mass density.
Journal ArticleDOI
The Type Ia Supernova Rate at z ~ 0.4
Reynald Pain,I. M. Hook,Susana E. Deustua,S. Gabi,G. Goldhaber,Donald E. Groom,Alex G. Kim,Min Kook Kim,Julia C. Lee,Carlton R. Pennypacker,Saul Perlmutter,I. A. Small,Ariel Goobar,Richard S. Ellis,Richard G. McMahon,Karl Glazebrook,B. J. Boyle,P. S. Bunclark,David Carter,Mike Irwin +19 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the first measurement of the rate of Type Ia supernovae at high redshift was presented, using a large subset of data from the Supernova Cosmology Project as described in more detail at this meeting.
Journal ArticleDOI
A Multi-year Search for Transits of Proxima Centauri. I. Light Curves Corresponding to Published Ephemerides
David L. Blank,Dax L. Feliz,Dax L. Feliz,Karen A. Collins,Graeme L. White,Keivan G. Stassun,Keivan G. Stassun,Ivan A. Curtis,Rhodes Hart,John F. Kielkopf,Peter F. Nelson,Howard M. Relles,Chris Stockdale,Bandupriya Jayawardene,Carlton R. Pennypacker,P. D. Shankland,Daniel E. Reichart,J. B. Haislip,Vladimir Kouprianov +18 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors present preliminary results from an extensive photometric monitoring campaign of Proxima Centauri, using telescopes around the globe and spanning from 2006 to 2017, comprising a total of 329 observations.
Proceedings ArticleDOI
Characterization of a fully depleted CCD on high-resistivity silicon
Richard J. Stover,Mingzhi Wei,Yan J. Lee,David Kirk Gilmore,Steven E. Holland,Donald E. Groom,William W. Moses,Saul Perlmutter,G. Goldhaber,Carlton R. Pennypacker,N.W. Wang,Nicholas P. Palaio +11 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors presented results from the characterization of a CCD which promises to address many of the problems of typical thinned CCDs, such as interference fringes from reflected light, and observed the effects of clocking waveform shapes on spurious charge generation.
Journal ArticleDOI
Localized or systemic in vivo heat inactivation of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV): a mathematical analysis.
TL;DR: Results indicate that a daily therapy lowering the population of actively infected cells by 40% or infectious virus by40% would effectively reverse the depletion of T cells, and heating directed specifically to areas of viral concentration may be effective and have a suitable risk/benefit ratio.
