Journal Article
Presumed Incompetent: The Intersections of Race and Class for Women in Academia
TL;DR: Presumed Incompetent as mentioned in this paper is a path breaking account of the intersecting roles of race, gender, and class in the working lives of women faculty of color, including hiring, promotion, tenure, and relations with students, colleagues, and administrators.
Journal ArticleDOI
Nitric oxide mediates tumor necrosis factor-α cytotoxicity in endothelial cells
TL;DR: The results indicate that NO is involved in the cytotoxic effect of TNF-α on endothelial cells, and Dexamethasone, which prevents the expression of cytokine-induced NO synthase in endothelial Cells, also inhibits T NF-α-dependent cytotoxicity.
Journal ArticleDOI
Effects of 45-nm silver nanoparticles on coronary endothelial cells and isolated rat aortic rings
Hector Rosas-Hernandez,Salma Jiménez-Badillo,Pedro Pablo Martinez-Cuevas,Eduardo Gracia-Espino,Humberto Terrones,Mauricio Terrones,Saber M. Hussain,Syed F. Ali,Carmen G. Gonzalez +8 more
TL;DR: The results clearly demonstrate that the NPs have selective and specific effects on the vascular endothelium in a concentration-dependent manner and suggest that opposite effects could be associated with NPs of different sizes.
Journal ArticleDOI
16K-prolactin inhibits activation of endothelial nitric oxide synthase, intracellular calcium mobilization, and endothelium-dependent vasorelaxation.
Carmen G. Gonzalez,Ana M. Corbacho,Jason P. Eiserich,Celina García,Fernando López-Barrera,Verónica Morales-Tlalpan,Alma Barajas-Espinosa,Mauricio Díaz-Muñoz,Rafael Rubio,Sue Hwa Lin,Gonzalo Martínez de la Escalera,Carmen Clapp +11 more
TL;DR: 16K-PRL can block the Ca(2+)-mediated activation of eNOS by three different vasoactive substances, and this action results in the inhibition of both angiogenesis and vasorelaxation.
Journal ArticleDOI
Modulation of angiotensin‐converting enzyme by nitric oxide
A Ackermann,María S. Fernández-Alfonso,R Sánchez de Rojas,T Ortega,Martin Paul,Carmen G. Gonzalez +5 more
TL;DR: It is demonstrated that NO and NO‐releasing compounds inhibit ACE activity in a concentration‐dependent and competitive way and that NO release from endothelium physiologically reduces conversion of AI to AII.
