Journal ArticleDOI
Nanocellulose-collagen-apatite composite associated with osteogenic growth peptide for bone regeneration
Sybele Saska,Lucas Novaes Teixeira,Larissa Moreira Spinola de Castro Raucci,Raquel M. Scarel-Caminaga,Leonardo Pereira Franchi,Raquel Alves dos Santos,Silvia H. Santagneli,Marisa Veiga Capela,Paulo Tambasco de Oliveira,Catarina Satie Takahashi,Ana Maria Minarelli Gaspar,Younes Messaddeq,Sidney José Lima Ribeiro,Reinaldo Marchetto +13 more
TL;DR: Promising results suggest that the (BC-COL)-Ap associated with OGP peptides might be considered a potential candidate for bone tissue engineering applications.
Journal ArticleDOI
Potentiation by turmeric and curcumin of gamma-radiation-induced chromosome aberrations in Chinese hamster ovary cells.
TL;DR: The results clearly indicate the exacerbated effect of turmeric and curcumin on radiation-induced clastogenicity, suggesting that these antioxidants are also potentiating agents depending on the experimental conditions.
Journal ArticleDOI
From dual binding site acetylcholinesterase inhibitors to allosteric modulators: A new avenue for disease-modifying drugs in Alzheimer's disease
Talita Perez Cantuaria Chierrito,Susimaire Pedersoli-Mantoani,Carlos Roca,Carlos Requena,Víctor Sebastián-Pérez,Willian Orlando Castillo,Natália Stanko Moreira,Concepción Pérez,Elza Tiemi Sakamoto-Hojo,Catarina Satie Takahashi,Jesús Jiménez-Barbero,F. Javier Cañada,Nuria E. Campillo,Ana Martínez,Ivone Carvalho +14 more
TL;DR: The design, synthesis and evaluation of non-toxic dual binding site AChEIs by hybridization of indanone and quinoline heterocyclic scaffolds are proposed and a potent allosteric modulator of AChe able to target cholinergic and non-cholinergic functions is found by fixing a specific AchE conformation.
Journal ArticleDOI
Galanthamine decreases genotoxicity and cell death induced by β-amyloid peptide in SH-SY5Y cell line
Willian Orlando Castillo,Andrés Felipe Aristizábal-Pachón,Ana P. Montaldi,Elza Tiemi Sakamoto-Hojo,Catarina Satie Takahashi +4 more
TL;DR: It is demonstrated that in addition to inhibition of acetylcholinesterase (AChE), galanthamine exerts antigenotoxic properties which may improve the development of new diseases-modifying agents.
Journal ArticleDOI
Genotoxic effect of Physalis angulata L. (Solanaceae) extract on human lymphocytes treated in vitro.
Raquel Alves dos Santos,Teresinha Rosa Cabral,Isabel Rosa Cabral,Lusânia Maria Greggi Antunes,Cristiane Pontes Andrade,Plínio Cerqueira dos Santos Cardoso,Marcelo de Oliveira Bahia,Cláudia Pessoa,José Luis Martins do Nascimento,Rommel Rodríguez Burbano,Catarina Satie Takahashi +10 more
TL;DR: The genotoxic effects of P. angulata extract on human lymphocytes in vitro was demonstrated using the comet assay and the micronucleus assay in human lymphocyte provided from 6 healthy donors.
