Journal ArticleDOI
Curcumin inhibits the migration and invasion of human A549 lung cancer cells through the inhibition of matrix metalloproteinase-2 and -9 and Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor (VEGF)
Song Shei Lin,Kuang Chi Lai,Shu Chun Hsu,Jai Sing Yang,Chao Lin Kuo,Jing Pin Lin,Yi Shih Ma,Chih-Chung Wu,Jing Gung Chung +8 more
TL;DR: Curcumin suppressed the migration and invasion of human non-small cell lung cancer cells (A549) in vitro and suggests that curcumin has anti-metastatic potential by decreasing invasiveness of cancer cells.
Journal ArticleDOI
Chrysophanol induces necrosis through the production of ROS and alteration of ATP levels in J5 human liver cancer cells
Chi Cheng Lu,Jai Sing Yang,An Cheng Huang,Te Chun Hsia,Su Tze Chou,Chao Lin Kuo,Hsu Feng Lu,Tsung-Han Lee,W. G. Wood,Jing Gung Chung,Jing Gung Chung +10 more
TL;DR: Human liver cancer cells treated with chrysophanol exhibited a cellular pattern associated with necrosis and not apoptosis, and reductions in adenosine triphosphate levels and increases in lactate dehydrogenase activity indicated that chrysophile stimulated necrotic cell death.
Journal ArticleDOI
DNA damage and endoplasmic reticulum stress mediated curcumin-induced cell cycle arrest and apoptosis in human lung carcinoma A-549 cells through the activation caspases cascade- and mitochondrial-dependent pathway
Song Shei Lin,Hsuan Pang Huang,Jai Sing Yang,Jeng Yuan Wu,Te Chun Hsai,Chin Chung Lin,Cheng Wen Lin,Chao Lin Kuo,W. Gibson Wood,Jing Gung Chung,Jing Gung Chung +10 more
TL;DR: It is demonstrated that curcumin treatment causes cell death by activating pathways inducing G2/M-phase arrest and apoptosis.
Journal ArticleDOI
Benzyl Isothiocyanate (BITC) Inhibits Migration and Invasion of Human Colon Cancer HT29 Cells by Inhibiting Matrix Metalloproteinase-2/-9 and Urokinase Plasminogen (uPA) through PKC and MAPK Signaling Pathway
Kuang-Chi Lai,An-Cheng Huang,Shu-Chun Hsu,Chao Lin Kuo,Jai Sing Yang,Shin-Hwar Wu,Jing Gung Chung,Jing Gung Chung +7 more
TL;DR: It is demonstrated that BITC could alter HT29 cell metastasis by reduction of M MP-2, MMP-9, and u-PA expression through the suppression of a PKC, MAPK signaling pathway and inhibition of NF-kappaB levels.
Journal ArticleDOI
Antioxidant enzymes activity involvement in luteolin-induced human lung squamous carcinoma CH27 cell apoptosis
TL;DR: The experiments found that luteolin-induced CH27 cell apoptosis was accompanied by activation of antioxidant enzymes, such as superoxide dismutase and catalase, but not through the production of reactive oxygen species and disruption of mitochondrial membrane potential.
