Journal ArticleDOI
Violent breaking wave impacts. Part 1: Results from large-scale regular wave tests on vertical and sloping walls
TL;DR: In this paper, the effects of entrained and entrapped air on wave impacts are investigated and the characteristics of the impacts depend on the breaker conditions and four different types of impact are identified and discussed.
Proceedings ArticleDOI
A laboratory study of overtopping and breaching of shingle barrier beaches
TL;DR: In this paper, a dynamic equilibrium profile was developed for any given combination of wave conditions assuming that there is sufficient time and sediment available for the profile to form, which is not valid for the prediction of overwashing and breaching of shingle barrier beaches.
Journal ArticleDOI
DeRisk - Accurate prediction of ULS wave loads. Outlook and first results
Henrik Bredmose,Martin Dixen,Amin Ghadirian,Torben J. Larsen,Signe Schløer,Søren Juhl Andersen,Shaofeng Wang,Harry B. Bingham,Ole Lindberg,Erik Damgaard Christensen,Malene Hovgaard Vested,Stefan Carstensen,Allan Peter Engsig-Karup,Ole Petersen,Hans Fabricius Hansen,Jesper Sandvig Mariegaard,Paul H. Taylor,Thomas A. A. Adcock,Charlotte Obhrai,Ove T. Gudmestad,Niels Jacob Tarp-Johansen,C. P. Meyer,Jørgen R Krokstad,Loup Suja-Thauvin,T.D. Hanson +24 more
TL;DR: The DeRisk project as discussed by the authors aims at an improved load evaluation procedure for extreme waves through application of advanced wave models, laboratory tests of load effects, development of hydrodynamic load models, aero-elastic response calculations and statistical analysis.
Proceedings ArticleDOI
Violent wave impacts on vertical and inclined walls: large scale model tests
Charlotte Obhrai,G. N. Bullock,Guido Wolters,Gerald Müller,Howell Peregrine,Henrik Bredmose,Joachim Grüne +6 more
Journal ArticleDOI
CFD simulations of violent breaking wave impacts on a vertical wall using a two-phase compressible solver
TL;DR: In this article, four different types of breaking wave impacts on a vertical wall are simulated using a two-dimensional two-phase Computational Fluid Dynamic (CFD) model.
