The Longitudinal Properties of a Solar Energetic Particle Event Investigated Using Modern Solar Imaging
Alexis Rouillard,Alexis Rouillard,Alexis Rouillard,N. R. Sheeley,Allan J. Tylka,Angelos Vourlidas,Chee K. Ng,Chee K. Ng,Cara E. Rakowski,Christina Cohen,R. A. Mewaldt,G. M. Mason,Donald V. Reames,Neel Savani,O. C. StCyr,Adam Szabo +15 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors analyzed the relation between the eruption of the CME, the evolution of an Extreme Ultraviolet (EUV) wave, and the onset of a solar energetic particle (SEP) event measured in situ by the STEREO and near-Earth orbiting spacecraft.
The longitudinal properties of solar energetic particle events investigated using modern solar imaging.
A. P. Rouillard,N. R. Sheeley,A. J. Tylka,Angelos Vourlidas,Chee K. Ng,G. M. Mason,C. M. S. Cohen +6 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors analyzed the relation between the eruption of the CME, the evolution of an Extreme Ultraviolet (EUV) wave, and the onset of a solar energetic particle (SEP) event measured in situ by the STEREO and near-Earth orbiting spacecraft.
Journal ArticleDOI
Interpreting the properties of solar energetic particle events by using combined imaging and modeling of interplanetary shocks
Alexis Rouillard,Alexis Rouillard,Dusan Odstrcil,Dusan Odstrcil,Chee K. Ng,N. R. Sheeley,Allan J. Tylka,Angelos Vourlidas,C.-C. Wu,Brian E. Wood,G. M. Mason,Neel Savani,Guillermo Stenborg,Adam Szabo,O. C. St. Cyr +14 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors used images of the solar corona obtained by the Solar-Terrestrial Relations Observatory (STEREO) to investigate the onset of a solar Energetic Particle (SEP) event measured at the first Lagrange point (L1) and at STEREO-behind (STB).
Journal ArticleDOI
Streaming-limited intensities of solar energetic particles on the intensity plateau
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors examined the energy spectra of H, He, O, and Fe ions on the temporal intensity plateau region in large solar energeticparticle (SEP) events, where intensities may be "streaming limited." Upstream of the Sun, outwardly streaming protons amplify resonant Alfven waves that then scatter subsequent protons sufficiently to reduce the streaming.
Journal ArticleDOI
Initial Fe/O Enhancements in Large, Gradual, Solar Energetic Particle Events: Observations from Wind and Ulysses
Allan J. Tylka,Olga Malandraki,Gareth Dorrian,Yuan-Kuen Ko,Richard G. Marsden,Chee K. Ng,Cecil Tranquille +6 more
TL;DR: In this paper, it was shown that the eventintegrated value of the iron-to-oxygen ratio (Fe/O) is typically ∼ 0.1, at least at energies of a few MeV/nucleon.
