Journal ArticleDOI
Impacts of cropping practices on yield-scaled greenhouse gas emissions from rice fields in China: A meta-analysis
TL;DR: In this article, a meta-analysis was conducted to quantify the impacts of rice cropping practices on the global warming potential (GWP) of GHG emissions at yield-scale rather than area-scale in China.
Journal ArticleDOI
Higher yields and lower methane emissions with new rice cultivars.
Yu Jiang,Kees Jan van Groenigen,Kees Jan van Groenigen,Shan Huang,Bruce A. Hungate,Chris van Kessel,Shuijin Hu,Shuijin Hu,Jun Zhang,Lianhai Wu,Xiao-jun Yan,Li-li Wang,Jin Chen,Xiaoning Hang,Yi Zhang,William R. Horwath,Rongzhong Ye,Bruce A. Linquist,Zhenwei Song,Chengyan Zheng,Aixing Deng,Weijian Zhang +21 more
TL;DR: It is shown in a series of experiments that high-yielding rice cultivars actually reduce CH4 emissions from typical paddy soils, and suggests that modern rice breeding strategies for high-Yielding cultivars can substantially mitigate paddy CH4 emission in China and other rice growing regions.
Journal ArticleDOI
Long-term fertilization on nitrogen use efficiency and greenhouse gas emissions in a double maize cropping system in subtropical China
Daniel Afreh,Jun Zhang,Dahai Guan,Kailou Liu,Zhenwei Song,Chengyan Zheng,Aixing Deng,Xiaomin Feng,Xin Zhang,Yan Wu,Qianru Huang,Weijian Zhang +11 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the impacts of different fertilizer application on double maize cropping system in subtropical China were investigated. And the results suggest that manure application can compensate its negative impacts on N 2 O emission through improving soil quality, maize yield and nitrogen use efficiency.
Journal ArticleDOI
Warming impacts on winter wheat phenophase and grain yield under field conditions in Yangtze Delta Plain, China
Yunlu Tian,Jin Chen,Changqing Chen,Aixing Deng,Zhenwei Song,Chengyan Zheng,Willem B. Hoogmoed,Weijian Zhang +7 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a five-year experiment with Free Air Temperature Increase facility was conducted to investigate the actual responses of winter wheat phenophase and yield to warming in Yangtze Delta Plain, China.
Journal ArticleDOI
The impacts of conservation agriculture on crop yield in China depend on specific practices, crops and cropping regions
Chengyan Zheng,Yu Jiang,Changqing Chen,Yanni Sun,Jinfei Feng,Aixing Deng,Zhenwei Song,Weijian Zhang +7 more
TL;DR: It is strongly recommended to apply CA with crop straw retention in maize cropping areas and seasons with a warm and dry climate pattern.
