Journal ArticleDOI

Lipid synthesis in human leukocytes, platelets, and erythrocytes.

TL;DR: Normal human leukocytes and platelets incorporate acetate-l-C14 into triglycerides and phospholipids, and transfer these lipids into plasma lipids, demonstrating that human erythrocyte lipid synthesis is very limited and probably occurs only in the youngest circulating cells.
Journal ArticleDOI

Programmed Synthesis and Export of Immunoglobulin by Synchronized Myeloma Cells

Noelene Byars, +1 more
- 16 May 1970 -
TL;DR: Collagen, a protein synthesized in large amounts for export, is produced throughout the life cycles of several fibroblast lines at rates corresponding to those of overall protein synthesis4.
Journal ArticleDOI

Cortisol in the Regulation of RNA and Protein Synthesis

Chev Kidson
- 25 Feb 1967 -
TL;DR: The initial events Involved in the regulation of RNA and protein synthesis by the hormone cortisol are rapid, which suggests that steroid hormones act as effector molecules in induction and repression.
Journal ArticleDOI

A challenge to the concept of selection by malaria in glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase deficiency.

TL;DR: A Challenge to the Concept of Selection by Malaria in Glucose-6-Phosphate Dehydrogenase Deficiency suggests that selection by malaria may be biased towards parasites with a high affinity for glucose.
