Journal ArticleDOI

A new method for estimating synonymous and nonsynonymous rates of nucleotide substitution considering the relative likelihood of nucleotide and codon changes.

TL;DR: The implication of the results for the mechanisms of DNA evolution and that of the relative likelihood of codon interchanges in parsimonious phylogenetic reconstruction are discussed.
Journal ArticleDOI

Nonrandomness of point mutation as reflected in nucleotide substitutions in pseudogenes and its evolutionary implications

TL;DR: A revised estimate of the pattern of point mutation is obtained by considering more pseudogene sequences and indicates that mutation occurs nonrandomly among the four nucleotides, with a high proportion of transitional mutations.
Journal ArticleDOI

Structure and evolution of the apolipoprotein multigene family

TL;DR: The results show that apoA-II has evolved extremely rapidly and that apOA-I and apoE also have evolved at high rates but some regions are better conserved than the others.
Journal ArticleDOI

Lipoprotein lipase and hepatic lipase mRNA tissue specific expression, developmental regulation, and evolution.

TL;DR: Comparison of sequences from mouse, human, bovine, and guinea pig cDNAs indicated that the rates of evolution of mouse, human, andbovine LPL are quite low, but guinea Pig LPL has evolved several times faster than the others.
