High-pressure synthesis, structure and novel photochemical reactions of 7,7,8,8-tetramethyl-7,8-disilabicyclo[2.2.2]octa-2,5-diene

Abstract: 7,7,8,8-Tetramethyl-7,8-disilabicyclo[2.2.2]octa-2,5-diene 1, prepared by the high-pressure reaction (10 000 bar) of 1,1,2,2-tetramethyl-1,2-disilacyclohexa-3,5-diene and phenyl vinyl sulphoxide followed by elimination of benzenesulphenic acid, gave tetramethyldisilene (Me2SiSiMe2) upon photolysis which underwent a photochemical [2 + 4] reaction with benzene at 10 K in an argon matrix to regenerate the precursor.

A novel construction of polyfunctionalised trans-hydroindanes via sulphur-mediated intramolecular double Michael type reaction

Abstract: trans-Hydroindanes possessing an angular methyl group were stereoselectively synthesised via treatment of the four geometrical isomers 1a–1d of 9-rnethoxycarbonyl-4-methyl-1-phenylthionona-1,8-dien-3-one with tert-butyldimethylsilyl trifluoromethanesulphonate in the presence of triethylamine.

Unique Condensation Reactions of Tropones with Bis(benzoylthio)trithiafulvene Leading to 10aH-Cyclohepta(c)-1,3-dithiolo(e)(1,2)dithiin-2-thione.

Abstract: Reactions of tropone derivatives with 4,5-bis(benzoylthio)-1,3-dithiole-2-thione (2,3,6-trithiafulvene derivative) afforded 1,3,5-cycloheptatriene derivatives doubly substituted by trithiafulvene and S–S groups (10aH-cyclohepta[c]-1,3-dithiolo[e][1,2]dithiin-2-thione). The structure of the 1,3,5-cycloheptatriene derivative and its crystal structure were investigated by single crystal X-ray analysis to show the existence of a unique three-dimensional network of the molecules through S···S contacts.
