Journal ArticleDOI
Assessment of human deoxynivalenol exposure using an LC-MS/MS based biomarker method.
Benedikt Warth,Michael Sulyok,Philipp Fruhmann,Franz Berthiller,Rainer Schuhmacher,Christian Hametner,Gerhard Adam,Johannes Fröhlich,Rudolf Krska +8 more
TL;DR: The in vivo metabolism of DON in humans was investigated and two closely eluting DON-GlcA's in naturally contaminated urine samples for the first time were determined and tentatively identified DON-15-glucuronide as a major DON metabolite in human urine based on the analysis of these samples.
Journal ArticleDOI
Transcriptome analysis of the barley-deoxynivalenol interaction: evidence for a role of glutathione in deoxynivalenol detoxification.
Stephanie A. Gardiner,Jayanand Boddu,Franz Berthiller,Christian Hametner,Robert M. Stupar,Gerhard Adam,Gary J. Muehlbauer +6 more
TL;DR: The results indicate that barley exhibits multiple defense mechanisms against trichothecenes, and evidence for nonenzymatic formation of DON-glutathione adducts in vitro was found using both liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry and nuclear magnetic resonance analysis, indicating that the formation of Don-glUTathione conjugates in vivo may reduce the impact of trichohcenes.
Journal ArticleDOI
New tricks of an old enemy: Isolates of Fusarium graminearum produce a type A trichothecene mycotoxin
Elisabeth Varga,Gerlinde Wiesenberger,Christian Hametner,Todd J. Ward,Yanhong Dong,Denise Schöfbeck,Susan P. McCormick,Karen Broz,Romana Stückler,Rainer Schuhmacher,Rudolf Krska,H. Corby Kistler,H. Corby Kistler,Franz Berthiller,Gerhard Adam +14 more
TL;DR: In rice cultures, a new trichothecene mycotoxin (named NX‐2) was characterized by liquid chromatography‐tandem mass spectrometry and genetic analysis revealed a different TRI 1 allele in the N‐isolates, which was verified to be responsible for the difference in hydroxylation at C‐8.
Journal ArticleDOI
Development and validation of a rapid multi-biomarker liquid chromatography/tandem mass spectrometry method to assess human exposure to mycotoxins
Benedikt Warth,Michael Sulyok,Philipp Fruhmann,Hannes Mikula,Franz Berthiller,Rainer Schuhmacher,Christian Hametner,Wilfred A. Abia,Wilfred A. Abia,Gerhard Adam,Johannes Fröhlich,Rudolf Krska +11 more
TL;DR: It is concluded that the developed LC/MS/MS method is well suited to quantify multiple mycotoxin biomarkers in human urine down to the sub-ppb range within 18 min and without any prior cleanup.
Journal ArticleDOI
Acylgermanes: Photoinitiators and Sources for Ge-Centered Radicals. Insights into their Reactivity
Dmytro Neshchadin,Arnulf Rosspeintner,Markus Griesser,Bernhard Felix Lang,Sandra Mosquera-Vázquez,Eric Vauthey,Vitaly Gorelik,Robert Liska,Christian Hametner,Beate Ganster,Robert Saf,Norbert Moszner,Georg Gescheidt +12 more
TL;DR: LC-NMR analysis of photocured mixtures containing 1 and the sterically hindered acrylate 3,3-dimethyl-2-methylenebutanoate reveals that the products formed in the course of a polymerization are consistent with the intermediates established at short time scales.
