Journal ArticleDOI

Topographical factors related to flooding frequency promote ecosystem multifunctionality of riparian floodplains

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors investigated the relationship between environmental drivers and ecosystem multifunctionality and concluded that restoration attempts which shorten hydrological distance and distance to the water table, like removal of artificial embankments or reconstruction of side channels, may have a positive effect not only on single functions, but also on overall ecosystem functionalities.
Journal ArticleDOI

Tree species matter for forest microclimate regulation during the drought year 2018: disentangling environmental drivers and biotic drivers

TL;DR: In this article , the authors investigated tree canopy temperature regulation for five mature co-occurring tree species for two contrasting hydrological situations during the severe drought in 2018, and found evidence that differences in the water use strategies of trees affected cooling mechanisms differently.
Journal ArticleDOI

Identifiers in e-Science platforms for the ecological sciences

TL;DR: In this paper, a collaborative e-science platform called BEFdata is proposed to publish stable and unique identifiers for the data repository of the Biodiversity-Ecosystem Functioning Research Unit of the German Research Foundation (BEFChina; DFG: FOR 891).
Journal ArticleDOI

rBEFdata: documenting data exchange and analysis for a collaborative data management platform.

TL;DR: The rBEFdata R package is introduced as companion to the collaborative data management platform BEFdata and allows to attach derived data products and scripts directly from R, thus addressing major aspects of documenting data postprocessing.
