Complexation of Uranium by Cells and S-Layer Sheets of Bacillus sphaericus JG-A12
Mohamed L. Merroun,Johannes Raff,André Rossberg,Christoph Hennig,Tobias Reich,Sonja Selenska-Pobell +5 more
TL;DR: Extended X-ray absorption fine-structure (EXAFS) spectroscopy was used to determine the structural parameters of the uranium complexes formed by purified and recrystallized S-layer sheets of B. sphaericus JG-A12 and investigated the complexation of uranium by the vegetative bacterial cells.
Journal ArticleDOI
Structure of uranium sorption complexes at montmorillonite edge sites
TL;DR: In this article, it is planned that bentonite, a mixture of phyllosilicates consisting pre-dominantly of montmorillonite, is used as a back-to-back mate-rial in the near future for high level nuclear waste.
Journal ArticleDOI
Microbacterium isolates from the vicinity of a radioactive waste depository and their interactions with uranium
TL;DR: Three oligotrophic bacterial strains were cultured from the ground water of the deep-well monitoring site S15 of the Siberian radioactive waste depository Tomsk-7, Russia and the results of the XAS studies were consistent with those obtained by transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and energy dispersive X-ray analysis (EDX).
Journal ArticleDOI
EXAFS investigation of U(VI), U(IV), and Th(IV) sulfato complexes in aqueous solution.
Christoph Hennig,Katja Schmeide,Vinzenz Brendler,Henry Moll,Satoru Tsushima,Andreas C. Scheinost +5 more
TL;DR: Previous controversially discussed observations of either monodentate or bidentate sulfate coordination in aqueous solutions can now be explained by differences of the [SO(4)(2-)]/[M] ratio.
Journal ArticleDOI
First Hexanuclear UIV and ThIV Formate Complexes – Structure and Stability Range in Aqueous Solution
Shinobu Takao,Koichiro Takao,Werner Kraus,Franziska Emmerling,Andreas C. Scheinost,Gert Bernhard,Christoph Hennig +6 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the actinide(IV) hexanuclear [M6(μ3-O),4(μ 3-OH)4(HCOO)12(LT)6] complexes were investigated by single-crystal X-ray analysis and XAFS spectroscopy.
