Journal ArticleDOI
Climatically induced lake level changes during the last two millennia as reflected in sediments of Laguna Potrok Aike, southern Patagonia (Santa Cruz, Argentina)
Torsten Haberzettl,Michael Fey,Andreas Lücke,Nora I. Maidana,Christoph Mayr,Christian Ohlendorf,Frank Schäbitz,Gerhard H. Schleser,Michael Wille,Bernd Zolitschka +9 more
TL;DR: The Laguna Potrok Aike lake in southern Patagonia, Argentina, has been analyzed using a multi-proxy approach as discussed by the authors, which reveals an unprecedented continuous high-resolution climatic record for the steppe regions of southern Argentina and reveals that rapid climate changes before the turn of the first millennium were detected followed by medieval droughts which are intersected by moist and/or cold periods of varying durations and intensities.
Journal ArticleDOI
Lateglacial and Holocene wet-dry cycles in southern Patagonia: chronology, sedimentology and geochemistry of a lacustrine record from Laguna Potrok Aike, Argentina
Torsten Haberzettl,Hugo Corbella,Michael Fey,Stephanie Janssen,Andreas Lücke,Christoph Mayr,Christian Ohlendorf,Frank Schäbitz,Gerhard H. Schleser,Michael Wille,Sabine Wulf,Bernd Zolitschka +11 more
TL;DR: A high-resolution multiproxy geochemical approach was applied to the sediments of Laguna Potrok Aike in an attempt to reconstruct moist and dry periods during the past 16 000 years in south- eastern Patagonia.
Journal ArticleDOI
Precipitation origin and evaporation of lakes in semi-arid Patagonia (Argentina) inferred from stable isotopes (δ18O, δ2H)
Christoph Mayr,Andreas Lücke,Willibald Stichler,Peter Trimborn,Bettina Ercolano,Gabriel Oliva,Christian Ohlendorf,Julio Soto,Michael Fey,Torsten Haberzettl,Stephanie Janssen,Frank Schäbitz,Gerhard H. Schleser,Michael Wille,Bernd Zolitschka +14 more
TL;DR: In this article, a stable isotope database (δ2H and δ18O) is presented for estimating evaporation to inflow ratios (E/I) of lakes in semi-arid southern Patagonia.

Holocene variability of the Southern Hemisphere westerlies in Argentinean Patagonia (52°S)
Christoph Mayr,Michael Wille,Torsten Haberzettl,Michael Fey,Stephanie Janssen,Andreas Lücke,Christian Ohlendorf,Gabriel Oliva,Frank Schäbitz,Gerhard H. Schleser,Bernd Zolitschka +10 more
TL;DR: In this paper, high-resolution analyses of allochthonous pollen input into crater lake sediments of Laguna Potrok Aike in the semi-arid Patagonian steppe reflect the variability of zonal wind intensities during the Holocene at 52° southern latitude.
