Krolewski,Andrzej S. Krolewski +33 more
TL;DR: These findings provide strong evidence that KRIS proteins contribute to the inflammatory process underlying end-stage renal disease development in both types of diabetes, and point to new therapeutic targets and new prognostic tests to identify subjects at risk of end-Stage renal disease.
Journal ArticleDOI
A dominant negative ADIPOQ mutation in a diabetic family with renal disease, hypoadiponectinemia, and hyperceramidemia
Christopher A Simeone,Joseph L. Wilkerson,Annelise M Poss,James Banks,Joseph Vinod Varre,Jose L. Guevara,Edgar Javier Hernandez,Bushra Gorsi,Donald L. Atkinson,Tursun Turapov,Scott G. Frodsham,J. F. Morales,Kristina O’Neil,B. Moore,Mark Yandell,Scott A. Summers,Andrzej S. Krolewski,William L. Holland,Marcus G. Pezzolesi +18 more
TL;DR: In this paper , the authors identified a family harboring a 10-nucleotide deletion mutation in ADIPOQ that cosegregates with diabetes and end-stage renal disease.

417-P: Functional Characterization of a Rare, Pathogenic Missense Variant Implicates FRAS1 as a Novel Gene for Risk of Progression to End-Stage Kidney Disease in Diabetes
Tiehua Chen,Jose Lazaro-Guevara,Melissa H. Pezzolesi,Christopher A Simeone,Aylin Rodan,William L. Holland,Marcus G. Pezzolesi +6 more
TL;DR: In this paper , a rare missense variant (p.R2516C, allele frequency = 0.00002) was identified in FRAS1, which encodes an extracellular matrix protein that regulates epidermal basement membrane adhesion.
