Journal ArticleDOI
Incidence of basal cell and squamous cell carcinomas in a population younger than 40 years.
Leslie J. Christenson,Theresa A. Borrowman,Celine M. Vachon,Megha M. Tollefson,Clark C. Otley,Amy L. Weaver,Randall K. Roenigk +6 more
TL;DR: There was a disproportionate increase in basal cell carcinoma in young women and men residing in Olmsted County, Minnesota, which may lead to an exponential increase in the overall occurrence of nonmelanoma skin cancers over time as this population ages.
Journal ArticleDOI
Pathologic nodal evaluation improves prognostic accuracy in Merkel cell carcinoma: Analysis of 5823 cases as the basis of the first consensus staging system
Bianca D. Lemos,Barry E. Storer,Jayasri G. Iyer,Jerri Linn Phillips,Christopher K. Bichakjian,L. Christine Fang,Timothy M. Johnson,Nanette J. Liegeois-Kwon,Clark C. Otley,Kelly G. Paulson,Merrick I. Ross,Siegrid S. Yu,Nathalie C. Zeitouni,David R. Byrd,David R. Byrd,Vernon K. Sondak,Jeffrey E. Gershenwald,Arthur J. Sober,Paul Nghiem,Paul Nghiem,Paul Nghiem +20 more
TL;DR: Although the majority of patients with MCC in this nationwide cohort did not undergo pathologic nodal evaluation, this procedure may be indicated in many cases as it improves prognostic accuracy and has important treatment implications for those found to have microscopic nodal involvement.
Journal ArticleDOI
Adjuvant local irradiation for Merkel cell carcinoma.
TL;DR: Surgery plus local adjuvant irradiation was associated with significantly lower rates of local and regional recurrence of MCC than surgery alone, and the presence of a survival benefit from combination therapy was clarified.
Journal ArticleDOI
Defining the clinical course of metastatic skin cancer in organ transplant recipients: a multicenter collaborative study.
Juan-Carlos Martinez,Clark C. Otley,Thomas Stasko,Sylvie Euvrard,Christine Brown,Carl F. Schanbacher,Amy L. Weaver +6 more
TL;DR: In this article, the Kaplan-Meier method was used to estimate the cumulative incidence of relapse, overall survival, and disease-specific survival after metastatic skin cancer in organ transplant recipients.
Journal ArticleDOI
A new American Joint Committee on Cancer staging system for cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma: Creation and rationale for inclusion of tumor (T) characteristics
Sharifeh Farasat,Siegrid S. Yu,Victor A. Neel,Kishwer S. Nehal,Thomas Lardaro,Martin C. Mihm,David R. Byrd,Charles M. Balch,Joseph A. Califano,Alice Y. Chuang,William H. Sharfman,Jatin P. Shah,Paul Nghiem,Clark C. Otley,Anthony P. Tufaro,Timothy M. Johnson,Arthur J. Sober,Nanette J. Liégeois +17 more
TL;DR: The new AJCC staging system for cSCC incorporates tumor-specific (T) staging features and will encourage coordinated, consistent collection of data that will be the basis of improved prognostic systems in the future.
