Incidence of basal cell and squamous cell carcinomas in a population younger than 40 years.
Leslie J. Christenson,Theresa A. Borrowman,Celine M. Vachon,Megha M. Tollefson,Clark C. Otley,Amy L. Weaver,Randall K. Roenigk +6 more
TL;DR: There was a disproportionate increase in basal cell carcinoma in young women and men residing in Olmsted County, Minnesota, which may lead to an exponential increase in the overall occurrence of nonmelanoma skin cancers over time as this population ages.
Journal ArticleDOI
AAD/ACMS/ASDSA/ASMS 2012 appropriate use criteria for Mohs micrographic surgery: a report of the American Academy of Dermatology, American College of Mohs Surgery, American Society for Dermatologic Surgery Association, and the American Society for Mohs Surgery

Norton,Randall K. Roenigk,Ronald G. Wheeland,Oliver J. Wisco +25 more
TL;DR: The appropriate use criteria process synthesizes evidence-based medicine, clinical practice experience, and expert judgment to optimize the use of MMS for scenarios in which the expected clinical benefit is anticipated to be the greatest.
Journal ArticleDOI
Risk of acquiring human papillomavirus from the plume produced by the carbon dioxide laser in the treatment of warts
TL;DR: When warts are grouped together without specification of anatomic site, CO2 laser surgeons are no more likely to acquire warts than a person in the general population, however, human papillomavirus types that cause genital warts seem to have a predilection for infecting the upper airway mucosa, and laser plume containing these viruses may represent more of a hazard to the surgeon.
Journal ArticleDOI
Merkel cell carcinoma. Comparison of Mohs micrographic surgery and wide excision in eighty-six patients.
TL;DR: Mahs surgery compares favorably with standard surgical excision andRadiotherapy after Mohs surgery may further reduce persistent metastases in transit and nodal disease.
Journal ArticleDOI
Trends in the population-based incidence of squamous cell carcinoma of the skin first diagnosed between 1984 and 1992
TL;DR: The frequencies of first diagnosis of SCC are increasing at rates beyond those explainable by demographic shifts alone, and age-adjusted rates for SCC were within the ranges seen in other white populations from temperate climates.
