Journal ArticleDOI
The function of adipocytes in the bone marrow stroma: an update.
TL;DR: Recent findings concerning bone marrow adipocyte morphology and physiology, the transcriptional and cytokine mechanisms regulating their differentiation, and the interrelationships existing betweenBone marrow adipocytes, hematopoiesis, and osteogenesis lend support to a "plastic" model of bone marrow stromal cell differentiation.
Journal Article
Peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor-gamma activation by thiazolidinediones induces adipogenesis in bone marrow stromal cells.
Jeffrey M. Gimble,Claudius E. Robinson,Claudius E. Robinson,Xiying Wu,Katherine A. Kelly,Katherine A. Kelly,Brenda R. Rodriguez,Steven A. Kliewer,Jürgen M. Lehmann,David C. Morris +9 more
TL;DR: Thiazolidinedione directly regulates bone marrow stromal cell differentiation; induced PPAR gamma expression may play a key regulatory role in this process.
Journal ArticleDOI
CAAT/enhancer binding proteins directly modulate transcription from the peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor gamma 2 promoter.
Stephen L. Clarke,Claudius E. Robinson,Claudius E. Robinson,Jeffrey M. Gimble,Jeffrey M. Gimble,Jeffrey M. Gimble +5 more
TL;DR: Findings demonstrate that proteins within the C/EBP family directly modulate transcription from the PPAR gamma 2 promoter.
Journal ArticleDOI
Cloning and Characterization of the Murine Activin Receptor-like Kinase-1 (ALK-1) Homolog
Xiying Wu,Claudius E. Robinson,H.W. Fong,Judy S. Crabtree,B.R. Rodriguez,Bruce A. Roe,J.M. Gimble +6 more
TL;DR: Multiple serine/threonine kinases were detected in a bone marrow stromal cell line and one of these, the murine activin receptor like kinase-1 homolog was cloned and sequenced.
Journal ArticleDOI
DNA Bending Is Induced by Binding of the Peroxisome Proliferator-Activated Receptor γ2 Heterodimer to Its Response Element in the Murine Lipoprotein Lipase Promoter
TL;DR: This is the first demonstration that binding of a PPAR protein to its recognition element causes a distortion of the DNA configuration, and indicates that PPAR gamma 2 utilizes a common mechanism shared by other nuclear hormone receptor proteins reported to induce bending at their DNA binding sites.
