Fossil evidence for Cretaceous escalation in angiosperm leaf vein evolution.

TL;DR: Using vein density (DV) measurements of fossil angiosperm leaves, it is shown that the leaf hydraulic capacities of angiosperms escalated several-fold during the Cretaceous, providing fossil evidence for the hypothesis that significant ecosystem change brought about by angios perms lagged behind the Early Cret Jurassic taxonomic diversification ofAngiosperm.
Journal ArticleDOI

Early Cretaceous angiosperm invasion of Western Europe and major environmental changes.

TL;DR: During the late Early Cretaceous (Barremian-Albian), angiosperms showed a stepwise widening of their ecological range, being recorded first during the Barremian as aquatic plant mega-remains and at the Cenomanian onwards occurred in all the environments.
Journal ArticleDOI

Rise to dominance of angiosperm pioneers in European Cretaceous environments

TL;DR: A scenario for the rise to dominance of the angiosperms from the Barremian to the Campanian based on the European megafossil plant record allows for the measured evolution of angiosperm evolution in time and space synthesizing changes in the physical environment with concomitant change in the biological environment.
Journal ArticleDOI

Early Angiosperm Ecology: Evidence from the Albian-Cenomanian of Europe

TL;DR: During the Mid-Cretaceous, European floras were characterized by (a) coastal gymnosperms, (b) highly diversified fluvial angiosperms and (c) the first European brackish water-related angiosperm.
Journal ArticleDOI

Assemblages floristiques de l'Albien-Cénomanien de Charente-Maritime (SO France)

TL;DR: In this article, des plantes fossiles ont ete recemment collectees dans six localites de Charente-Maritime, d'âge Albien terminal a Cenomanien.
