Journal ArticleDOI
Strontium and barium iodide high light yield scintillators
Nerine J. Cherepy,G. Hull,A. Drobshoff,Stephen A. Payne,Edgar V. van Loef,Cody M. Wilson,Kanai S. Shah,Utpal N. Roy,Arnold Burger,Lynn A. Boatner,Woon-Seng Choong,W.W. Moses +11 more
TL;DR: In this paper, Europium-doped strontium and barium iodide are found to be readily growable by the Bridgman method and to produce high scintillation light yields.
Journal ArticleDOI
Scintillators With Potential to Supersede Lanthanum Bromide
Nerine J. Cherepy,Stephen A. Payne,S.J. Asztalos,G. Hull,Joshua D. Kuntz,T. Niedermayr,Siddha Pimputkar,Jeffery J. Roberts,Robert D. Sanner,Thomas M. Tillotson,E.V.D. van Loef,Cody M. Wilson,Kanai S. Shah,Utpal N. Roy,Rastgo Hawrami,Arnold Burger,Lynn A. Boatner,Woon-Seng Choong,W.W. Moses +18 more
TL;DR: In this article, a new scintillators for high-resolution gamma ray spectroscopy have been identified, grown and characterized, focusing on two classes of high-light-yield materials: europium-doped alkaline earth halides and ceriumdoped garnets.
Journal ArticleDOI
Crystal Growth and Scintillation Properties of Strontium Iodide Scintillators
E.V.D. van Loef,Cody M. Wilson,Nerine J. Cherepy,G. Hull,S.A. Payne,Woon-Seng Choong,William W. Moses,Kanai S. Shah +7 more
TL;DR: The spectrum of the strontium iodide scintillators showed very high light yields of up to 120 000 photons/MeV, have energy resolutions down to 3% at 662 keV (Full Width Half Maximum) and exhibit excellent light yield proportionality with a standard deviation of less than 5% between 6 and 460 keV.
Proceedings ArticleDOI
Strontium iodide scintillators for high energy resolution gamma ray spectroscopy
Cody M. Wilson,Edgar V. van Loef,Jarek Glodo,Nerine J. Cherepy,G. Hull,Stephen A. Payne,Woon-Seng Choong,William W. Moses,Kanai S. Shah +8 more
TL;DR: In this article, the effects of dopant concentration on the scintillation properties of the SrI2, over the range 0.5% to 8% Eu2+ and 0.2% to 2% Ce3+/Na+, are discussed in detail.
Patent
Strontium halide scintillators, devices and methods
TL;DR: In this article, the present invention provides strontium halide scintillators as well as related radiation detection devices, imaging systems, and methods, such as radii.
