Journal ArticleDOI
Pedicle screw placement accuracy: a meta-analysis.
TL;DR: In this paper, a meta-analysis of the published literature was conducted specifically looking at accuracy and the postoperative methods used for the assessment of pedicle screw placement in the human spine.
Journal ArticleDOI
Qualitative grading of severity of lumbar spinal stenosis based on the morphology of the dural sac on magnetic resonance images.
Constantin Schizas,Nicolas Theumann,Alexandre Burn,Rosamond Tansey,Douglas Wardlaw,Francis W. Smith,Gerit Kulik +6 more
TL;DR: The grading defines stenosis in different subjects than surface measurements alone and since it mainly considers impingement of neural tissue it might be a more appropriate clinical and research tool as well as carrying a prognostic value.
Journal ArticleDOI
Minimally invasive versus open transforaminal lumbar interbody fusion: evaluating initial experience.
Constantin Schizas,Nicolas Tzinieris,Elefterios Tsiridis,Victor Kosmopoulos,Victor Kosmopoulos +4 more
TL;DR: The MITLIF group resulted in a significant reduction of blood loss and had a shorter length of hospital stay, and no difference was observed in postoperative pain, initial analgesia consumption, VAS or ODI between the groups.
Journal ArticleDOI
Computer tomography assessment of pedicle screw insertion in percutaneous posterior transpedicular stabilization
TL;DR: This study has shown that percutaneous insertion of cannulated pedicle screws in the lumbar spine is an acceptable procedure, and the overall rate of perforation in axial images is below the higher rates reported in the literature but does remain important.
Journal ArticleDOI
ISSLS Prize Winner: Consensus on the Clinical Diagnosis of Lumbar Spinal Stenosis: Results of an International Delphi Study.
Christy Tomkins-Lane,Markus Melloh,Jon D. Lurie,Matthew Smuck,Michele C. Battié,Brian J. C. Freeman,Dino Samartzis,Richard Hu,Thomas Barz,Kent Stuber,Michael Schneider,Andrew J. Haig,Constantin Schizas,Jason Pui Yin Cheung,Anne F. Mannion,Lukas P. Staub,Christine Comer,Luciana G. Macedo,Sang Ho Ahn,Kazuhisa Takahashi,Danielle Sandella +20 more
TL;DR: This is the first study to reach an international consensus on the clinical diagnosis of LSS, and suggests that within six questions clinicians are 80% certain of diagnosis.
