TL;DR: The chemical composition of the essential oil obtained from the leaves of Piper ovatum Vahl by hydrodistillation was analyzed by GC–MS, and amides identified as piperovatine and piperlonguminine showed an inhibitory effect on the adherence of C. tropicalis.

TL;DR: Results suggest a potential use of HQ in human nutrition and showed no hepatic and renal toxicity of HQ, and decreased food intake, body weight, fat deposition, and blood triacylglycerol level were observed in the supplemented groups (sedentary and exercised supplemented groups).

TL;DR: This HPLC method allowed the identification and quantification of piperlonguminine and piperovatine in the hydroethanolic extracts of P. ovatum obtained from the leaves, stems and roots and all the extracts showed the same chromatographic profile.
