Physical Mapping of 5S rDNA in Two Species of Knifefishes: Gymnotus pantanal and Gymnotus paraguensis (Gymnotiformes)
M. da Silva,Daniele Aparecida Matoso,Marcelo Ricardo Vicari,M.C. de Almeida,Vladimir Pavan Margarido,R.F. Artoni +5 more
TL;DR: Physical mapping of 5S rDNA in 2 species of knifefishes, Gymnotuspantanal and G. paraguensis, was performed using fluorescence in situ hybridization with a 5 S rDNA probe to determine non-transcribed spacer sequences (NTS).
Journal ArticleDOI
The Bunocephalus coracoideus Species Complex (Siluriformes, Aspredinidae). Signs of a Speciation Process through Chromosomal, Genetic and Ecological Diversity.
Milena Ferreira,Caroline Garcia,Daniele Aparecida Matoso,Isac Silva de Jesus,Marcelo de Bello Cioffi,Luiz Antonio Carlos Bertollo,Jansen Zuanon,Eliana Feldberg +7 more
TL;DR: A huge degree of chromosomal and genetic diversity is revealed in B. coracoideus and highly points to the existence of four ESUs in allopatric and sympatric speciation processes.
Journal ArticleDOI
Chromosomal polymorphism in two species of Hypancistrus (Siluriformes: Loricariidae): an integrative approach for understanding their biodiversity
Maelin da Silva,Emanuell D. Ribeiro,Daniele Aparecida Matoso,Leandro M. Sousa,Tomas Hrbek,Lúcia H. Rapp Py-Daniel,Eliana Feldberg +6 more
TL;DR: Data reveal that, although diploid number in both species corroborates the proposed synapomorphy for the tribe, there is a complex karyotype dynamics, reflected in the intense chromosomal polymorphism, resulting from rearrangements involving ribosomal regions (5S and 18S rDNA), which are suggested to be paracentric inversions.
Journal ArticleDOI
Acute toxicity of the pesticide trichlorfon and inhibition of acetylcholinesterase in Colossoma macropomum (Characiformes: Serrasalmidae)
W. Duncan,Jhonatan Junior Silva Idalino,André Gentil da Silva,Rebeca Fontenele Moda,Hallana Cristina Menezes da Silva,Daniele Aparecida Matoso,Ana Lúcia Silva Gomes +6 more
TL;DR: In vitro assay results suggest that trichlorfon tends to be a classic uncompetitive inhibitor of AChE in both the brain and muscle, since Km and Vmax values decrease, while the slope remains unchanged, and all these results show that C. macropomum has low tolerance to this pesticide.
Journal ArticleDOI
Chromosome mapping of repetitive sequences in four Serrasalmidae species (Characiformes)
TL;DR: This study investigated the genomic organization of the 18S and 5S rDNA and telomeric sequences in mitotic chromosomes of four species from the basal clade of the Serrasalmidae family, in order to understand the chromosomal evolution in the family.
