Adipose Overexpression of Desnutrin Promotes Fatty Acid Use and Attenuates Diet-Induced Obesity
Maryam Ahmadian,Robin E. Duncan,Krista A. Varady,Danúbia Frasson,Marc K. Hellerstein,Andreas L. Birkenfeld,Varman T. Samuel,Gerald I. Shulman,Yuhui Wang,Chulho Kang,Hei Sook Sul +10 more
TL;DR: It is shown that by increasing lipolysis, desnutrin overexpression causes reduced adipocyte TAG content and attenuation of diet-induced obesity and promotes fatty acid oxidation and re-esterification within adipocytes.
Journal ArticleDOI
Several agents and pathways regulate lipolysis in adipocytes.
TL;DR: This review has summarized the signalling pathways activated by several agents involved in the regulation of TAG hydrolysis in adipocytes by modulating the activity of HSL and ATGL.
Journal ArticleDOI
Glyceroneogenesis Is Reduced and Glucose Uptake Is Increased in Adipose Tissue from Cafeteria Diet–Fed Rats Independently of Tissue Sympathetic Innervation
Valéria Ernestânia Chaves,Danúbia Frasson,Maria E.S. Martins-SantosM.E. Martins-Santos,Renata Polessi Boschini,Maria Antonieta Rissato Garófalo,William T. Festuccia,Isis do Carmo Kettelhut,Renato Helios Migliorini +7 more
TL;DR: The data show that glyceroneogenesis can also be inhibited to adjust the supply of G3P to the existing rates of FA esterification and TAG synthesis, and suggest that this adjustment is made by reciprocal changes in the generation of G 3P from glucose via glycolysis and from glycer oneogenesis, independently from G2P production by glycerokinase.
Journal ArticleDOI
Hydrogen peroxide production regulates the mitochondrial function in insulin resistant muscle cells: Effect of catalase overexpression
Marina R. Barbosa,Igor H. Sampaio,Bruno G. Teodoro,Bruno G. Teodoro,Thais Amaral e Sousa,Cláudio Cesar Zoppi,André L. Queiroz,Madla A. Passos,Luciane C. Alberici,Felipe R. Teixeira,Adriana Oliveira Manfiolli,Thiago M. Batista,Ana Paula Gameiro Cappelli,Rosana I. Reis,Danúbia Frasson,Isis do Carmo Kettelhut,Lucas T. Parreiras-e-Silva,Claudio M. Costa-Neto,Everardo M. Carneiro,Rui Curi,Leonardo R. Silveira +20 more
TL;DR: Control of hydrogen peroxide production regulates the mitochondrial respiration preventing the insulin resistance in skeletal muscle cells by a mechanism associated with CREB phosphorylation and β-oxidation of fatty acids.
Journal ArticleDOI
A low-protein, high-carbohydrate diet increases fatty acid uptake and reduces norepinephrine-induced lipolysis in rat retroperitoneal white adipose tissue.
Maísa Pavani dos Santos,Suélem Aparecida de França,José Tiago F. dos Santos,Samyra Lopes Buzelle,Gisele Lopes Bertolini,Maria Antonieta Rissato Garófalo,Isis C. do Kettelhut,Danúbia Frasson,Valéria Ernestânia Chaves,Nair Honda Kawashita +9 more
TL;DR: The data reveal that the increase in fat storage in the RWAT of LPHC rats results from an increase in FA uptake from circulating lipoproteins and glycerol phosphorylation, which is accompanied by an impaired lipolysis that is activated by NE.
