Understanding Adipocyte Differentiation
TL;DR: Characterization of regulatory regions of adipose-specific genes has led to the identification of the transcription factors peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor-gamma and CCAAT/enhancer binding protein (C/EBP), which play a key role in the complex transcriptional cascade during adipocyte differentiation.
Journal ArticleDOI
Regulation of lipolysis in adipocytes.
TL;DR: This review provides an overview of key mediators of lipolysis and the regulation of this process by changes in nutritional status and nutrient intakes.
Journal ArticleDOI
Desnutrin, an Adipocyte Gene Encoding a Novel Patatin Domain-containing Protein, Is Induced by Fasting and Glucocorticoids ECTOPIC EXPRESSION OF DESNUTRIN INCREASES TRIGLYCERIDE HYDROLYSIS
TL;DR: The cloning and identification of a 2.0-kb mRNA coding for a putative protein that is expressed predominantly in adipose tissue, and its expression is induced early during 3T3-L1 adipocyte differentiation, suggest that the newly identified desnutrin gene codes for an adipocyte protein that may function as a lipase and play a role in the adaptive response to a low energy state, such as fasting.
Journal ArticleDOI
A Cysteine-rich Adipose Tissue-specific Secretory Factor Inhibits Adipocyte Differentiation
TL;DR: The regulated expression pattern suggesting this factor as an adipose sensor for the nutritional state of the animals and the inhibitory effect on adipocyte differentiation implicate its function as a feedback regulator of adipogenesis.
Journal ArticleDOI

TL;DR: WAT-derived hepatic acetyl CoA is identified as the main regulator of HGP by insulin and link it to inflammation-induced hepatic insulin resistance associated with obesity and T2D.
