Journal ArticleDOI

Maximal dendrite size in monolayer systems.

TL;DR: It is argued that the Mullins-Sekerka instability is significantly modified at small wave vectors, leading to a maximum allowed size for the dendrite tip and a crossover in the velocity versus driving curve at small undercooling in nonequilibrium monolayers.
Journal ArticleDOI

Spiral selection as a free boundary problem

TL;DR: In this article, a new formulation of the spiral selection problem for the Belousov-Zhabotinsky reaction was presented, which derived an exact integro-differential shape equation and discussed the possible behavior of solutions to this equation.
Journal ArticleDOI

Ordered hexagonal patterns via notch-delta signaling.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors present an exact treatment of the pattern formation problem via a system of nine coupled ordinary differential equations and analyze the possible patterns that are realized for realistic parameters by considering a co-dimension 2 pitchfork bifurcation of this system.
Journal ArticleDOI

Environmental Stochasticity and the Speed of Evolution

TL;DR: In this article, the authors consider the effect of environmental variations on the rate in which the average fitness of a community increases and present some theoretical considerations and numerical results for the general case where environmental variations are taken into account.
