Evolution on a Smooth Landscape: The Role of Bias

TL;DR: Simulation of finite populations in a waiting time model of mutational bias in evolution on a smooth landscape shows both the nonequilibrium dynamics and the equilibrium fitness distributions that are reached.
Journal ArticleDOI

Infinite ergodic theory meets boltzmann statistics

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors investigate the overdamped stochastic dynamics of a particle in an asymptotically flat external potential field, in contact with a thermal bath, and derive the Boltzmann infinite density heuristically using an entropy maximization principle.
Journal ArticleDOI

Deviations from Boltzmann-Gibbs Statistics in Confined Optical Lattices.

TL;DR: The semiclassical phase-space probability distribution P(x,p) of cold atoms in a Sisyphus cooling lattice with an additional harmonic confinement is investigated and an explicit expression for the stationary phase- space distribution is derived.
Journal ArticleDOI

Towards the development of a multiscale, multiphysics method for the simulation of rarefied gas flows

TL;DR: In this article, a coupled multiscale, multiphysics method (CM3) is proposed to solve the Boltzmann equation for rarefied gases over a very short interval of time in order to obtain accurate estimates of the components of the stress tensor and heat-flux vector.
