Journal ArticleDOI

Markers of Inflammation in Bacterial Diarrhea among Travelers, with a Focus on Enteroaggregative Escherichia coli Pathogenicity

TL;DR: Bacterial pathogens causing traveler's diarrhea commonly produce intestinal inflammation, although a subset of patients with EAEC-associated diarrhea fail to develop an inflammatory response.
Journal ArticleDOI

Antibiotic-Induced Depletion of Anti-inflammatory Clostridia Is Associated with the Development of Graft-versus-Host Disease in Pediatric Stem Cell Transplantation Patients

TL;DR: It is shown that pediatric SCT patients who developed GVHD showed a significant decline, up to 10-log fold, in gut anti-inflammatory Clostridia (AIC) compared with those without GV HD, and this development is significantly associated with cumulative antibiotic exposure.
Journal ArticleDOI

Rate of occurrence and pathogenic effect of enteroaggregative Escherichia coli virulence factors in international travelers.

TL;DR: The different patterns of virulence factors of EAEC revealed several clusters demonstrating diversity among the isolates from the various regions, and the pathogenicity of many strains was suggested by showing an association between the presence of plasmid-borne virulence Factors and the presenceof fecal cytokines.
