E7 Protein of Human Papilloma Virus-16 Induces Degradation of Retinoblastoma Protein through the Ubiquitin-Proteasome Pathway
TL;DR: Evidence is provided for HPV-16 E7-induced enhanced degradation of Rb protein via a ubiquitin-proteasome pathway and a second mechanism of oncogenic transformation by E7 is suggested, in addition to its previously identified ability to sequester Rb from E2F.

The Bmi-1 oncogene induces telomerase activity and immortalizes human mammary epithelial cells
Goberdhan P. Dimri,Jose Luis Martinez,Jacqueline J L Jacobs,Petra Keblusek,Koji Itahana,Maarten van Lohuizen,Judith Campisi,David E. Wazer,Vimla Band +8 more
TL;DR: It is reported that Bmi-1, originally identified as a c-Myc cooperating oncoprotein, can bypass senescence, extend the replicative life span, and immortalize MECs and plays a role in the development of human breast cancer.
Journal ArticleDOI
Factors influencing cosmetic outcome and complication risk after conservative surgery and radiotherapy for early-stage breast carcinoma.
David E. Wazer,Thomas A. DiPetrillo,Rupert Schmidt-Ullrich,L Weld,Thomas J. Smith,D J Marchant,Nicholas J. Robert +6 more
TL;DR: Optimal cosmesis and minimal complication risk require careful attention to the technical details of surgery and radiotherapy.
Journal ArticleDOI

TL;DR: This APBI guideline is to provide updated data for clinicians as well as recommendations regarding appropriate patient selection and techniques to deliver APBI and guidelines for the appropriate and safe utilization of the technique.

ErbB2 Degradation Mediated by the Co-chaperone Protein CHIP
Pengcheng Zhou,Norvin Fernandes,Ingrid Dodge,Alagarsamy Lakku Reddi,Navin Rao,Howard Safran,Thomas A. DiPetrillo,David E. Wazer,Vimla Band,Hamid Band +9 more
TL;DR: It is shown that ErbB2 serves as an in vitro substrate for the Hsp70/Hsp90-associated U-box ubiquitin ligase CHIP and a role for CHIP E3 activity is suggested in controlling both the association of Hsp 70/ Hsp90 chaperones with Erb B2 and the down-regulation of Erb b2 induced by inhibitors of HSp90.
