Journal ArticleDOI
Assessing the depth of language processing in patients with disorders of consciousness.
Peng Gui,Yuwei Jiang,Di Zang,Zengxin Qi,Jiaxing Tan,Hiromi Tanigawa,Jian Jiang,Yunqing Wen,Long Xu,Jizong Zhao,Ying Mao,Mu-ming Poo,Nai Ding,Stanislas Dehaene,Stanislas Dehaene,Xuehai Wu,Liping Wang +16 more
TL;DR: EEG-based language assessment provides a new and reliable approach to objectively characterize and predict states of consciousness and to longitudinally track individual patients’ language processing abilities at the bedside.
Journal ArticleDOI
Are intrinsic neural timescales related to sensory processing? Evidence from abnormal behavioral states.
Federico Zilio,Javier Gomez-Pilar,Shumei Cao,Jun Zhang,Di Zang,Zengxin Qi,Jiaxing Tan,Tanigawa Hiromi,Xuehai Wu,Stuart Fogel,Zirui Huang,Matthias R. Hohmann,Tatiana Fomina,Matthis Synofzik,Moritz Grosse-Wentrup,Adrian M. Owen,Georg Northoff +16 more
TL;DR: The results establish that the spontaneous activity's intrinsic neural timescale is related to the neural capacity that specifically supports sensory rather than motor information processing in the healthy brain.
Journal ArticleDOI
Higher-order sensorimotor circuit of the brain's global network supports human consciousness.
Pengmin Qin,Xuehai Wu,Changwei W. Wu,Hang Wu,Jun Zhang,Zirui Huang,Xuchu Weng,Di Zang,Zengxin Qi,Weijun Tang,Tanikawa Hiromi,Jiaxing Tan,Sean Tanabe,Stuart Fogel,Anthony G. Hudetz,Yihong Yang,Emmanuel Stamatakis,Ying Mao,Georg Northoff +18 more
TL;DR: It is demonstrated that regions forming a higher-order sensorimotor integration circuit are involved in supporting consciousness within the brain's global functional network, which offers novel and more mechanism-guided treatment targets for disorders of consciousness.
Journal ArticleDOI
Neuroimage-Based Consciousness Evaluation of Patients with Secondary Doubtful Hydrocephalus Before and After Lumbar Drainage.
Jiayu Huo,Zengxin Qi,Sen Chen,Qian Wang,Xuehai Wu,Di Zang,Tanikawa Hiromi,Jiaxing Tan,Lichi Zhang,Weijun Tang,Dinggang Shen +10 more
TL;DR: A novel machine-learning method was applied to find the most discriminative features from the multi-modal neuroimages to regress the JFK Coma Recovery Scale-Revised (CRS-R) scores to quantify the level of consciousness and showed that the regression model has high potential for the evaluation of consciousness in clinical practice.
