Journal ArticleDOI
Crossreactivity to vinculin and microbes provides a molecular basis for HLA-based protection against rheumatoid arthritis
Jurgen van Heemst,Diahann T. S. L. Jansen,Savvas Polydorides,Antonis K. Moustakas,Marieke Bax,Anouk L. Feitsma,Diënne G. Bontrop-Elferink,Martine Baarse,Diane van der Woude,Gertjan Wolbink,Theo Rispens,Frits Koning,René R. P. de Vries,George K. Papadopoulos,Georgios Archontis,Tom W J Huizinga,René E. M. Toes +16 more
TL;DR: The data indicate the involvement of pathogen-induced DERAA-directed T cells in the HLA-RA association and provide a molecular basis for the contribution of protective/predisposing HLA alleles.
Journal ArticleDOI
IL-17-producing CD4+ T cells are increased in early, active axial spondyloarthritis including patients without imaging abnormalities
Diahann T. S. L. Jansen,Marjolijn Hameetman,Jeroen van Bergen,Tom W J Huizinga,Désirée van der Heijde,René E. M. Toes,Floris A. van Gaalen +6 more
TL;DR: IL-17-producing CD4(+) T cells are increased in patients with early active axial SpA both with and without MRI abnormalities, which shows that the frequency of IL- 17-producingCD4(-) T cells is enhanced in the early stages of disease.
Journal ArticleDOI
Tolerogenic dendritic cells impede priming of naive CD8+T cells and deplete memory CD8+T cells
Fleur S. Kleijwegt,Diahann T. S. L. Jansen,Josefine Teeler,Antoinette M. Joosten,Sandra Laban,Tatjana Nikolic,Bart O. Roep +6 more
TL;DR: It is shown that (re)activation of CD8+ T cells by antigen‐pulsed Combi‐DCs does not promote, but rather deteriorates, CD8- T‐cell immunity, which is undesirable for survival of Combi-DCs infused into patients in therapeutic immune intervention strategies.
Journal ArticleDOI
Antibodies specific for carbamylated proteins precede the onset of clinical symptoms in mice with collagen induced arthritis.
Jeroen N. Stoop,Bi-Sheng Liu,Jing Shi,Diahann T. S. L. Jansen,Martin Hegen,Tom W J Huizinga,Leendert A. Trouw,René E. M. Toes +7 more
TL;DR: The data indicate that the tolerance to carbamylated proteins, in contrast to the response to citrullinated proteins, is easily broken and that arthritis boosts the immune response against these proteins.
Journal ArticleDOI
Non-invasive prenatal diagnosis of beta-thalassemia and sickle-cell disease using pyrophosphorolysis-activated polymerization and melting curve analysis.
Marion Phylipsen,Supawadee Yamsri,Emmely E. Treffers,Diahann T. S. L. Jansen,Warsha A. Kanhai,Elles M. J. Boon,Piero C. Giordano,Supan Fucharoen,Egbert Bakker,Cornelis L. Harteveld +9 more
TL;DR: A pyrophosphorolysis‐activated polymerization assay for non‐invasive prenatal diagnosis (NIPD) of β‐thalassemia major and sickle‐cell disease is developed.
