Timing of Renal-Replacement Therapy in Patients with Acute Kidney Injury and Sepsis.
Saber Barbar,Raphaël Clere-Jehl,Abderrahmane Bourredjem,Romain Hernu,Florent Montini,Rémi Bruyère,Christine Lebert,Julien Bohé,Julio Badie,Jean-Pierre Eraldi,Jean-Philippe Rigaud,Bruno Levy,Shidasp Siami,Guillaume Louis,Lila Bouadma,Jean-Michel Constantin,Emmanuelle Mercier,Kada Klouche,Damien du Cheyron,Gaël Piton,Djillali Annane,Samir Jaber,Thierry Van Der Linden,Gilles Blasco,Jean-Paul Mira,Carole Schwebel,Loïc Chimot,Philippe Guiot,Mai-Anh Nay,Ferhat Meziani,Julie Helms,Claire Roger,Benjamin Louart,Remi Trusson,Auguste Dargent,Christine Binquet,Jean-Pierre Quenot +36 more
TL;DR: Among patients with septic shock who had severe acute kidney injury, there was no significant difference in overall mortality at 90 days between patients who were assigned to an early strategy for the initiation of renal‐replacement therapy and those who were assign to a delayed strategy.
Journal ArticleDOI
The absence of adrenal gland enlargement during septic shock predicts mortality: a computed tomography study of 239 patients.
Boris Jung,Stephanie Nougaret,Gerald Chanques,Gregoire Mercier,Moussa Cisse,S. Aufort,B Gallix,Djillali Annane,Samir Jaber +8 more
TL;DR: Whether adrenal gland volume can be a surrogate of adrenal glands function and used to guide hydrocortisone therapy in septic shock patients needs to be further investigated.

The Absence of Adrenal Gland Enlargement During Septic Shock Predicts Mortality: A Computed Tomography Study of 239 Patients
Boris Jung,Stephanie Nougaret,Gerald Chanques,Gregoire Mercier,Moussa Cisse,S. Aufort,B Gallix,Djillali Annane,Samir Jaber +8 more
TL;DR: In this article, a short cosyntropin test and determination of adrenal volume by computed tomography were performed within 48 h of shock in patients with septic shock (n = 184) and in 2 control groups: 40 ambulatory patients and 15 non-septic critically ill patients.
Book ChapterDOI
Is there a place for anabolic hormones in critical care
TL;DR: There is no evidence from clinical trial to supplement ICU patients with thyroid hormones, and synthetic androgens such as oxandrolone may be considered as adjunct treatment in selected critically ill patients.
