Journal ArticleDOI

Bi-doped fiber lasers

TL;DR: In this paper, the results of investigations of Bi-doped fiber lasers covering a wavelength range of 1150 -1550 nm are presented. And the luminescence properties of various Bi-Doped glasses are discussed.
Journal ArticleDOI

Generation of fundamental soliton trains for high-bit-rate optical fiber communication lines

TL;DR: In this paper, a method for the generation of high-quality soliton trains at a high repetition rate of gigahertz to tera-hertz range was presented, where a train of practically noninteracting fundamental solitons is formed.
Journal ArticleDOI

Generation of a train of fundamental solitons at a high repetition rate in optical fibers

TL;DR: By adiabatic amplification of a periodically modulated cw signal in an optical fiber, a train of approximately independent solitons can be generated at a high repetition rate (up to the terahertz range).
Journal ArticleDOI

Germania-based core optical fibers

TL;DR: Germania-glass-based core silica glass cladding singlemode fibers (/spl Delta/n up to 0.143) with a minimum loss of 20 dB/km at 1.9 /spl mu/m were fabricated by the modified chemical vapor deposition (MCVD) method as mentioned in this paper.
Journal ArticleDOI

Mutual influence of the parametric effects and stimulated Raman scattering in optical fibers

TL;DR: In this article, the effect of Raman gain parametric suppression on modulation instability in the region of negative group velocity dispersion of fibers is investigated both theoretically and experimentally, and good agreement between theory and experiment is obtained.
