Viscous heating of high Prandtl number fluids with temperature-dependent viscosity

TL;DR: The transient velocity and temperature fields have been calculated for the sudden start of Couette flow for fluids with Prandtl numbers of 1,100 and 1000 and with a viscosity which decreases exponentially with temperature as mentioned in this paper.
Journal ArticleDOI

Solar collector surfaces with wavelength selective radiation characteristics

TL;DR: The use of porous materials through which a coolant is forced for the protection of surfaces exposed to high temperature gas streams has been discussed in a number of recent papers as mentioned in this paper, where it was discovered that these surfaces combined high absorptivity for solar radiation with a low emissivity value, and consequently their use as solar collectors is suggested.
Journal ArticleDOI

Energy exchange between earth-sheltered structures and the surrounding ground

TL;DR: A program of measurements is underway at Williamson Hall, an earth-sheltered building on the campus of the University of Minnesota as mentioned in this paper, where the temperature and the moisture field in the ground adjacent to the building, as well as the heat flux through the building walls, are measured continuously and recorded on magnetic tape and are thus available for evaluation.
