The dispersion–brightness relation for fast radio bursts from a wide-field survey
Ryan Shannon,Jean-Pierre Macquart,Jean-Pierre Macquart,Keith W. Bannister,Ron Ekers,Ron Ekers,C. W. James,C. W. James,Stefan Oslowski,Hao Qiu,Hao Qiu,Mawson W. Sammons,Aidan Hotan,Maxim Voronkov,Ron Beresford,A. Brown,John D. Bunton,Aaron Chippendale,C. Haskins,M. Leach,M. Marquarding,David McConnell,M. A. Pilawa,Elaine M. Sadler,E. R. Troup,J. Tuthill,Matthew Whiting,James R. Allison,C. S. Anderson,Martin Bell,Martin Bell,Martin Bell,Jordan D. Collier,Jordan D. Collier,G. Gürkan,George Heald,C. J. Riseley +36 more
TL;DR: A large-scale survey of fast radio bursts—short pulses of radio waves that seem to come from cosmological distances—finds 20 events, including both the nearest and the most energetic bursts observed so far, and demonstrates that there is a relationship between burst dispersion and brightness.
Journal ArticleDOI
The Detection of an Extremely Bright Fast Radio Burst in a Phased Array Feed Survey
Keith W. Bannister,Ryan Shannon,Ryan Shannon,Jean-Pierre Macquart,Chris Flynn,Philip G. Edwards,M. O'Neill,Stefan Oslowski,Matthew Bailes,Barak Zackay,Nathan Clarke,Larry D'Addario,Richard Dodson,Peter J. Hall,Andrew Jameson,D. L. Jones,Robert Navarro,Joseph Trinh,James R. Allison,Craig S. Troup,Tobias Westmeier +59 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors reported the detection of an ultra-bright fast radio burst (FRB) from a modest, 34-day pilot survey with the Australian Square Kilometre Array Pathfinder.
Journal ArticleDOI
Methanol Masers as Tracers of Circumstellar Disks
Ray P. Norris,S. E. Byleveld,S. E. Byleveld,Philip J. Diamond,Simon Ellingsen,R. H. Ferris,R. G. Gough,Michael Kesteven,P. M. McCulloch,Chris Phillips,John Reynolds,Anastasios Tzioumis,Y. Takahashi,E. R. Troup,K. J. Wellington +14 more
TL;DR: In this article, it was shown that methanol maser sources are not only linear in space but also have a linear velocity gradient along them, which suggests that the masers are situated in edge-on circumstellar disks around young stars.
Journal ArticleDOI
Methanol Masers as Tracers of Circumstellar Disks
Ray P. Norris,S. E. Byleveld,S. E. Byleveld,Philip J. Diamond,Simon Ellingsen,R. H. Ferris,R. G. Gough,Michael Kesteven,P. M. McCulloch,Chris Phillips,John Reynolds,Anastasios Tzioumis,Y. Takahashi,E. R. Troup,K. J. Wellington +14 more
TL;DR: In this paper, it was shown that many methanol maser sources are located along lines, with a velocity gradient along them, which suggests that the masers are situated in edge-on circumstellar or protoplanetary disks.
Journal ArticleDOI

TL;DR: The Boolardy test array as discussed by the authors is a prototype of the Australian square kilometre array pathfinder telescope with a six-antenna interferometer, fitted with prototype signal processing hardware capable of forming at least nine dual-polarisation beams simultaneously.
