The MUSE Hubble Ultra Deep Field Survey: II. Spectroscopic redshifts and comparisons to color selections of high-redshift galaxies
Hanae Inami,Roland Bacon,Jarle Brinchmann,Jarle Brinchmann,Johan Richard,Thierry Contini,Simon Conseil,Stephen Hamer,Mohammad Akhlaghi,Nicolas Bouché,Benjamin Clément,G. Desprez,Alyssa B. Drake,Takuya Hashimoto,Floriane Leclercq,Michael V. Maseda,Léo Michel-Dansac,Mieke Paalvast,Laurence Tresse,E. Ventou,Wolfram Kollatschny,Leindert Boogaard,H. Finley,Raffaella Anna Marino,Joop Schaye,Lutz Wisotzki +25 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors conducted a two-layered spectroscopic survey (1′ × 1′ ultra deep and 3′ × 3′ deep regions) in the Hubble Ultra Deep Field (HUDF) with the Multi Unit Spectroscopic Explorer (MUSE).
Journal ArticleDOI
Deep MUSE observations in the HDFS - Morpho-kinematics of distant star-forming galaxies down to 108M⊙
Thierry Contini,Thierry Contini,Benoît Epinat,Benoît Epinat,Benoît Epinat,Nicolas Bouché,Jarle Brinchmann,Leindert Boogaard,E. Ventou,E. Ventou,Roland Bacon,Johan Richard,Peter M. Weilbacher,Lutz Wisotzki,Davor Krajnović,J.-B. Vielfaure,J.-B. Vielfaure,Eric Emsellem,Eric Emsellem,H. Finley,H. Finley,Hanae Inami,Joop Schaye,Mark Swinbank,Adrien Guérou,Adrien Guérou,Adrien Guérou,Thomas P. K. Martinsson,Thomas P. K. Martinsson,Thomas P. K. Martinsson,Léo Michel-Dansac,Ilane Schroetter,Ilane Schroetter,M. Shirazi,G. Soucail,G. Soucail +35 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors used MUSE, a powerful wide-field, optical integral field spectrograph (IFS) recently mounted on the VLT, to characterize the kinematics of lower mass (M⋆≤ 1010M⊙) galaxies.
Journal ArticleDOI
Deep MUSE observations in the HDFS. Morpho-kinematics of distant star-forming galaxies down to $10^8$M$_\odot$
T. Contini,Benoit Epinat,Nicolas Bouché,Jarle Brinchmann,L. A. Boogaard,E. Ventou,Roland Bacon,Johan Richard,Peter M. Weilbacher,Lutz Wisotzki,D. Krajnovic,J-B. Vielfaure,E. Emsellem,H. Finley,Hanae Inami,Joop Schaye,M. Swinbank,Adrien Guérou,T. Martinsson,L. Michel-Dansac,Ilane Schroetter,M. Shirazi,G. Soucail +22 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors make use of the deep VLT/MUSE observations performed so far on the Hubble Deep Field South (HDFS) to characterize the low-mass (< $10^{10}$M$_\odot$) galaxy population at intermediate redshift.
Journal ArticleDOI
The MUSE Hubble Ultra Deep Field Survey VI: The Faint-End of the Ly$\alpha$ Luminosity Function at $2.91 < z < 6.64$ and Implications for Reionisation
Alyssa B. Drake,Thibault Garel,Lutz Wisotzki,Floriane Leclercq,Takuya Hashimoto,Johan Richard,Roland Bacon,Jeremy Blaizot,Joseph Caruana,Simon Conseil,Thierry Contini,B. Guiderdoni,Edmund Christian Herenz,Edmund Christian Herenz,Hanae Inami,J. Lewis,Guillaume Mahler,Raffaella Anna Marino,R. Pello,Joop Schaye,Anne Verhamme,Anne Verhamme,E. Ventou,Peter M. Weilbacher +23 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors constructed a sample of 604 Lyα emitters (LAEs) across the redshift range 2.91 Ultra Deep Field, and calculated accurate total Lyα fluxes capturing low surface-brightness extended Lyα emission now known to be a generic property of high-redshift star-forming galaxies.
Journal ArticleDOI
The MUSE Hubble Ultra Deep Field Survey VI: The Faint-End of the Lya Luminosity Function at 2.91 < z < 6.64 and Implications for Reionisation
Alyssa B. Drake,Thibault Garel,Lutz Wisotzki,Floriane Leclercq,Takuya Hashimoto,Johan Richard,Roland Bacon,Jeremy Blaizot,Joseph Caruana,Simon Conseil,T. Contini,B. Guiderdoni,E. C. Herenz,Hanae Inami,J. Lewis,Guillaume Mahler,Raffaella Anna Marino,R. Pello,Joop Schaye,A. Verhamme,E. Ventou,Peter M. Weilbacher +21 more
TL;DR: In this article, the luminosity function (LF) in a blank field using blind integral field spectroscopy from MUSE has been studied and it is shown that Lya emitters contribute more to the star-formation activity of the early Universe than previously thought.
