Journal ArticleDOI
Partial CD8+ T-cell depletion of allogeneic peripheral blood stem cell transplantation is insufficient to prevent graft-versus-host disease
Vincent T. Ho,Vincent T. Ho,Haesook T. Kim,Sigui Li,Ephraim P. Hochberg,Ephraim P. Hochberg,Corey Cutler,Corey Cutler,Sandra J. Lee,Sandra J. Lee,David C. Fisher,David C. Fisher,Edgar L. Milford,Grace Kao,Heather Daley,Jesse Levin,Andrea K. Ng,Peter Mauch,Edwin P. Alyea,Edwin P. Alyea,Joseph H. Antin,Joseph H. Antin,Robert J. Soiffer,Robert J. Soiffer +23 more
TL;DR: CD8 depletion in patients undergoing matched related donor and unrelated donor peripheral blood stem cell transplantation following myeloablative conditioning with cyclophosphamide and total body irradiation showed no correlation between CD8+ number and GVHD or survival.
Journal ArticleDOI
The combined risk of donor quality and recipient age: higher-quality kidneys may not always improve patient and graft survival.
Roland A. Hernandez,Sayeed K. Malek,Edgar L. Milford,Samuel R.G. Finlayson,Stefan G. Tullius +4 more
TL;DR: It is demonstrated that transplanting medium-quality kidneys into elderly recipients does not provide significant advantage over low-quality kidney transplants, and Cox proportional hazards was used to assess graft and recipient survival.
Journal Article
Studies in Specific Hypersensitiveness: XVII. The Preparation of Fluid Extracts and Solutions for Use in the Diagnosis and Treatment of Atopic Conditions
Arthur F. Coca,Edgar L. Milford +1 more
TL;DR: The chief objects of the study were to lessen the deterioration to which a number of the materials are subject, to effect a needed concentration of the active substances in some of the preparations, and to simplify and facilitate the technical aspects of the methods.
Journal Article
Cutaneous neoplasms in renal transplant recipients
TL;DR: Treatment options include reduction in immunosuppression, but preventive maintenance remains the primary focus of efforts to limit these malignancies.
Journal ArticleDOI
Donor and recipient chemokine receptor CCR5 genotype is associated with survival after bone marrow transplantation
David H. McDermott,Susan E. Conway,Tao Wang,Stacy M. Ricklefs,Manza A. Agovi,Stephen F. Porcella,Huong T. B. Tran,Edgar L. Milford,Stephen R. Spellman,Reza Abdi +9 more
TL;DR: It is found that recipients homozygous for a common CCR5 haplotype (H1/H1) had better disease-free survival (DFS) and overall survival (DFS) and this finding suggests that donor and/or recipient C CR5 genotypes may be associated with HSCT outcome and suggests new diagnostic and therapeutic strategies for optimizing therapy.
