Effects of Statins on Coronary Atherosclerotic Plaques: The PARADIGM Study
Sang Eun Lee,Hyuk Jae Chang,Ji Min Sung,Hyung Bok Park,Ran Heo,Asim Rizvi,Fay Y. Lin,Amit Kumar,Martin Hadamitzky,Yong Jin Kim,Edoardo Conte,Daniele Andreini,Gianluca Pontone,Matthew J. Budoff,Ilan Gottlieb,Byoung Kwon Lee,Eun Ju Chun,Filippo Cademartiri,Erica Maffei,Hugo Marques,Jonathon Leipsic,Sanghoon Shin,Jung Hyun Choi,Kavitha Chinnaiyan,Gilbert L. Raff,Renu Virmani,Habib Samady,Peter Stone,Daniel S. Berman,Jagat Narula,Leslee J. Shaw,Jeroen J. Bax,James K. Min +32 more
TL;DR: Statins were associated with slower progression of overall coronary atherosclerosis volume, with increased plaque calcification and reduction of high-risk plaque features, and induced phenotypic plaque transformation.
Journal ArticleDOI
Coronary Atherosclerotic Precursors of Acute Coronary Syndromes
Hyuk Jae Chang,Fay Y. Lin,Sang Eun Lee,Daniele Andreini,Jeroen J. Bax,Filippo Cademartiri,Kavitha Chinnaiyan,Benjamin J.W. Chow,Edoardo Conte,Ricardo C. Cury,Gudrun Feuchtner,Martin Hadamitzky,Yong Jin Kim,Jonathon Leipsic,Erica Maffei,Hugo Marques,Fabian Plank,Gianluca Pontone,Gilbert L. Raff,Alexander R. van Rosendael,Todd C. Villines,Harald G. TL;DR: Although ACS increases with %DS, most precursors of ACS cases and culprit lesions are nonobstructive, and plaque evaluation, including HRP, PB, and plaque composition, identifies high-risk patients above and beyond stenosis severity and aggregate plaque burden.
Journal ArticleDOI
Long-Term Prognostic Value of Cardiac Magnetic Resonance in Left Ventricle Noncompaction : A Prospective Multicenter Study
Daniele Andreini,Gianluca Pontone,Jan Bogaert,Alberto Roghi,Andrea Barison,Juerg Schwitter,Saima Mushtaq,Georgios Vovas,Paola Sormani,Giovanni Donato Aquaro,Pierre Monney,Chiara Segurini,Marco Guglielmo,Edoardo Conte,Laura Fusini,Antonio Russo,Massimo Lombardi,Paola Gripari,Andrea Baggiano,Cesare Fiorentini,Federico Lombardi,Antonio L. Bartorelli,Mauro Pepi,Pier Giorgio Masci +23 more
TL;DR: In patients with LVNC evaluated by using CMR, the degree of LV trabeculation seems to have no prognostic impact over and above LV dilation, LV systolic dysfunction, and presence of LGE.
Journal ArticleDOI
Role of computed tomography in COVID-19.
Gianluca Pontone,Stefano Scafuri,Maria Elisabetta Mancini,Cecilia Agalbato,Marco Guglielmo,Andrea Baggiano,Giuseppe Muscogiuri,Laura Fusini,Daniele Andreini,Saima Mushtaq,Edoardo Conte,Andrea Annoni,Alberto Formenti,Antonio Giulio Gennari,Andrea Igoren Guaricci,Mark R. Rabbat,Giulio Pompilio,Mauro Pepi,Alexia Rossi +18 more
TL;DR: The role of non-contrast chest computed tomography in the diagnosis, follow-up and prognosis of patients affected by COVID-19 pneumonia is reviewed with a detailed description of the imaging findings that may be encountered.
Journal ArticleDOI
Association of High-Density Calcified 1K Plaque with Risk of Acute Coronary Syndrome

TL;DR: Results of this study suggest that, on a per-patient and per-lesion basis, 1K plaque was associated with a lower risk for future ACS and that measurement of1K plaque may improve risk stratification beyond plaque burden.
