Electrochemical Transformation of Fe-N-C catalysts into Iron Oxides in Alkaline Medium and Its Impact on the Oxygen Reduction Reaction Activity

TL;DR: In this paper , a Fe dissolution/reprecipitation mechanism was proposed to partially transform single Fe atoms into Fe oxide nanoparticles and Fe carbide nanoparticles into Fe carbides, which is independent on the gas atmosphere used during the accelerated stress tests.
Journal ArticleDOI

Ellipsometric Measurements of the Optical Properties and Dynamics of Electrochemical Conversion in Films of Polyaniline

TL;DR: In this article, ellipsometric measurements on polyaniline grown galvanostatically on platinum electrodes in HCl solutions were performed in situ and under potential control, showing strong similarities with hydrous oxide films undergoing similar voltage-driven color-bleach cycles.
Journal ArticleDOI

Characterization of the limiting structural effects on the electrochemical behavior of porous gas diffusion electrodes

TL;DR: In this paper, the limiting structural effects of porous gas diffusion electrodes on the oxygen reduction reaction were studied in 0.5 M sulfuric acid solutions and the experimental results were analyzed in terms of the current models of gas diffusion electrode, through which the following conclusions were established: (i) the increase of the PTFE content changes the behavior of the gas diffusion sensors from an agglomerate diffusion toward a distributed resistance description of the limiting situation; (ii) the change of the platinum loading does not change the rate-determining step of the global electrode process;
Journal ArticleDOI

An investigation of the borohydride oxidation reaction on La–Ni-based hydrogen storage alloys

TL;DR: In this article, a comparison of metal hydride alloys with and without surface deposits of Pt, with and with no surface deposits at all, was carried out for the borohydride oxidation reaction (BOR) in alkaline media.
