Journal ArticleDOI
Source origin of trace elements in PM from regional background, urban and industrial sites of Spain
Xavier Querol,Mar Viana,Andrés Alastuey,Fulvio Amato,Teresa Moreno,S. Castillo,Jorge Pey,J. de la Rosa,A.M. Sánchez de la Campa,Begoña Artíñano,Pedro Salvador,S. García Dos Santos,Rosalía Fernández-Patier,Stella Moreno-Grau,L. Negral,María Cruz Minguillón,Eliseo Monfort,J.I. Gil,A. Inza,Luis Angel Ortega,Jesús Miguel Santamaría,J. Zabalza +21 more
TL;DR: In this paper, trace element concentrations in PM10 and PM2.5 were determined at 33 monitoring stations in Spain throughout the period 1995-2006, at sites with no significant industrial development allowed them to define usual concentration ranges for a number of trace elements in rural and urban background environments.
Journal ArticleDOI
Spatial and temporal variations in airborne particulate matter (PM10 and PM2.5) across Spain 1999–2005
Xavier Querol,Andrés Alastuey,Teresa Moreno,Mar Viana,S. Castillo,Jorge Pey,Sergio Rodríguez,Begoña Artíñano,Pedro Salvador,Miguel Sánchez,S. García Dos Santos,M. D. Herce Garraleta,Rosalía Fernández-Patier,Stella Moreno-Grau,L. Negral,María Cruz Minguillón,María Cruz Minguillón,Eliseo Monfort,María José Sanz,R. Palomo-Marín,E. Pinilla-Gil,Emilio Cuevas,J. de la Rosa,A.M. Sánchez de la Campa +23 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the average ranges of particulate matter (PM10 and PM2.5) concentrations and chemical composition in Spain show significant variations across the country, with current PM10 levels at several industrial and traffic hotspots exceeding recommended pollution limits.
Journal ArticleDOI
Environmental characterization of burnt coal gangue banks at Yangquan, Shanxi Province, China
Xavier Querol,Maria Izquierdo,Eliseo Monfort,E. Alvarez,Oriol Font,Teresa Moreno,Andrés Alastuey,Xinguo Zhuang,W. Lu,Yanxin Wang +9 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors investigated the environmental characteristics of coal gangue dumps in Yangquan (Shanxi Province, China) and showed that the combustion temperature could reach 1200 °C.
Journal ArticleDOI
Variations in vanadium, nickel and lanthanoid element concentrations in urban air.
Teresa Moreno,Xavier Querol,Andrés Alastuey,Jesús D. de la Rosa,Ana M. Sánchez de la Campa,Ana M. Sánchez de la Campa,MariCruz Minguillón,Marco Pandolfi,Yolanda González-Castanedo,Eliseo Monfort,Wes Gibbons +10 more
TL;DR: Geochemical characterisation of urban background PM is a valuable compliment to the physical monitoring of aerosols widely employed in urban areas, especially given the relevance of trace metal inhalation to urban health issues.
Journal ArticleDOI
Inter-comparison of receptor models for PM source apportionment: Case study in an industrial area
M. Viana,Marco Pandolfi,María Cruz Minguillón,Xavier Querol,Andrés Alastuey,Eliseo Monfort,I. Celades +6 more
TL;DR: In this article, three of the most widespread receptor models (principal component analysis, PCA; positive matrix factorization, PMF; chemical mass balance, CMB) were applied to a single PM 10 data set (n =328 samples, 2002-2005) obtained from an industrial area in NE Spain, dedicated to ceramic production.
